+9640News
With Telnet accessible BBS's, there are a number of boards running on Raspberry PI's and/or Windows systems with the capability to access Gateways. There just so happens to be a gateway, Retronet, dedicated to quite a few older computer platforms. Missing from that platform was the TI group. I asked, and the coordinators have launched the RTN_TI group. So, if you have a BBS with gateway capability, you can add this group. This group is very similar to the TI-ECHO group in the 90's that disappeared. If there is sufficient interest, I will also request a filearea within Retronet for the TI. Individuals running gateway software can get the software delivered right on their PC's by just polling a hub whenever the software is received for the filearea. While some people may not want to startup a BBS, software like Mystic BBS can be easily configured for personal use. It can run in the background of your Windows, Mac, or Raspberry PI systems grabbing anything from the hub on your schedule. Minimally, I think someone should just let the software run and poll the hub at least once daily to maintain your node in the hub. You can still maintain a firewall if you want no users calling in and you just want to pickup mail, etc. Anyways, food for thought. Omega-TI
That sounds a little like running a personal point system like back in the Fidonet days. Kinda cool.

But a dedicated area will be nice! Pepper
