Just posting this for future reference.

Its a FP AC/AC Adapter,Input 230v-50Hz,Output 9v AC 950mA = 1 amp

Model AD4120-09.0-0950

and here is a picture of it..

No, sorry, that one is made for the 1010 only, it does not provide enough power to the 1050. The 1010 can use a 1050 or "universal" PSU from the 400/800/810/1050/etc. lines, but not the other way around. The "universal" PSU is 9V 3.4A. I'm pretty sure the 1050 needs more than 950mA, which does not even equal 1 amp, you are 50mA short there. I have both PSU's myself, and I would NEVER attempt to use my little bitty 1010 PSU for my 1050!

Just glad you know before plugging it into a 1050 and damaging it. I guess it's the NTSC 60Hz ones that are 3.4A. I never seen one of the 50Hz ones since I'm in the states. My universal PSU's are all 31VA or about 3.4A. But I know in both cases it's more than enough amps. I had one powering 2 drives for a short stint, until I discovered it screws with the SIO and partially powers the second drive even if it's not on...so don't try that either.

I tried a 1000ma 9vac supply on a 1050. While it will power up and respond on the 5vdc side, the drive mech which runs on the 12v side will barely be able to spin the disk.

Yours will be perfectly sufficient for the 1010 though. Gotta watch some of those selling these on eBay claim they work on 1050, and they have tha ma rating blurred out in their photos. but when you ask them they say its 1000ma which will not actually work on the drives they claim it does. Yet they leave the listing up unmodified....

MEtalGuy66 posted in another post you can use a DC adapter but must be 15v and 2amps.. interesting...

You guys are all right..

The 1050 uses a very common PSU design (for its time).. 9vac > rectifier > 7805 regulator = 5v... 9vac> AC voltage doubler > rectifier > 7812 regulator = 12v..

You can use a DC brick with it, but it needs to be at least 15v, and about 2amp to be safe.. All of the caps inside are rated to at least 25v, so there is no problem there.. Might wanna keep an eye on the recifier diodes (I dont know how closely they are rated to capacity) as 2 of them will be operating at full duty cycle versus all 4 operating at half duty cycle when an AC brick is used...

Maybe he's right, I know he is knowledgeable with A8's, probably one of the best tech-heads on AA, but I will never try a DC PSU on any AC equipment I use, even if it works. I would fear something bad long term if nothing else, like wearing out components faster, etc. He even warns about that...

Oh, I totally missed that yours was a DC output. Yeah, that may work but it's not ideal. It keeps one side of the rectifier circuit 100% active and the other 100% idle, rather than alternating between both evenly... But I guess its technically fine. I used my MIO for at least a decade on a DC supply not knowing this benefit of using AC instead.
