0078265317
The other ac adapter I had broke. Got a new one by atariguide from amazon for 21 dollars. But wires are super thin also just like the original and a slight rip in the back. But still works so no big deal. So I put a little tape in the back just to make sure it does not break like the original. In order to keep the new adapter good for a long time I thought how about a stand perhaps. This is just a rough mockup. Leave the ac plugged in all the time so it does not break from constantly unplugging it and plugging it back in. And then hide the ac underneath. So it stays in place all the time. Is cardboard like that too flammable. Or if this was plastic it might be better. Or maybe just a large plastic box I can keep the console in with holes on the side for ventilation. And keep the ac plugged in there for good. No removing it no damage. What do you think. http://mvvg.blogspot.com/2018/01/7800-stand.html
+xucaen
I'm not sure if this helps, but I leave my consoles plugged in all the time. I use power strips, and then power off the strip when not in use.
SIO2
When I read the subject, I though someone came up with a vertical stand for the 7800.
0078265317
Yes but I don't have space to leave plugged in all the time. So I need it to be removable or semi portable. Like a stand or a box.
CPUWIZ
My 7800 power supply has been plugged in for 10 years, only interrupted by power outages, on an unprotected power strip.

+xucaen
I was kidding. Well, I say we build an automatic cartridge loader, something like a DVD tray, that loads and ejects the carts while on a vertical stand.
Tombstone
I'm not sure if this helps, but I leave my consoles plugged in all the time. I use power strips, and then power off the strip when not in use. I also do this.
Inky
I wrap some tape around the flex point at the adapter and the plug end, then shrink tubing over those. Seems to be a good bit of extra protection.
Swami
I have all my various units and TVs plugged into three surge protectors. Seems a little wasteful, but I guess its supposed to be good to have a console you're not using started once in a while.
HammR25
I bought one of these but it was more for stackability of consoles than anything. I totally recommend also purchasing the expert setup. https://www.amazon.com/Whitmor-Wire-Stacking-Shelf-Small/dp/B00K2R40ZW

Lynxpro
I was kidding. SIO2 can kid. After all, he's got a red 7800 and an Epyx 500XJ modded for 2-fire button action on the 7800. That's badass.
