_The Doctor__
Ok. I see C77 and C78 on the image I just googled. Just remove -- don't bridge directly, right(!)? Thanks. bp Screen Shot 2018-01-26 at 10.26.42 AM.png yes, you just snip them out, or un-solder them, don't leave them in the board at all. Some people lift one side or the other and then they may or may not experience noise issues depending on the environment they live in and if shield is put back on or not... blakespot
I clipped out the two caps -- works perfectly now. Lotharek knows his stuff! bp
_The Doctor__
No way to know it until we see pictures, had you lowered the sio rate down like I asked you to 19200, it would have worked and we would have know what to tell you next. Although clipping of the sio caps has been posted all over the forum and users groups for the last 30 or so years... I'm glad it's been resolved.... blakespot
_The Doctor_ Umm, I am new to the A8 scene and as such hadnt seen years of posts about clipping the caps. Seeemd the machine had a serious issue with the SIO2SD and I decided to take Lotharek as an authority. I tried several max speed settings with no luck. Are you suggesting clipping the caps was a bad move somehow? Not sure where youre coming from. ?

+Nezgar
...clipping of the sio caps has been posted all over the forum and users groups for the last 30 or so years... Amen to that... Here's a quote from the 1986 Happy 1050 Rev 7 Users manual... "...the fix that most often solves the problem is to remove all capacitors inside the personal computer that connect the SERIAL OUTPUT DATA (pin 5 of the I/O connector) to ground..." Although personally I never had to remove the caps inside the computer in the past as my Happy's worked fine, but these newer devices can run way faster than the happy ever could, making the mod more necessary. I actually only did this for the first time in 2017 to get a Mini-Speedy and Sdrive2 working optimally...
