I apologize in advance if this has been answered tons of times- i usually try to do a search on the forum but there was just too much info to process, lol.

What are your recommendations for 2600 homebrew carts? I was looking at the store and there's a ton of em out there. :)

I know for sure I wanted to pick up Pacman 4k and Scramble.

There are so many good ones. It really depends on your taste.

Oystron (one of the earliest and still one of the best)

Draconian (amazing Bosconian port)

Space Cactus Canyon (unique and fun game with procedurally generated levels)

Galactopus (just throwing that out there)

Ladybug (another amazing arcade port)

Blinky Goes Up (great platformer)

I could keep going. You almost can't go wrong with any of the games in the AtariAge store.

That I own I would recommend stay frosty 2. It has unbelievable graphics sound and depth and is just plain fun. Juno FIrsf

is a great arcade port with great graphics. With great graphics. Toy shop trouble is a very simple game but extremely fun and addictive and challenging. It has elements of Tapper what is unique. I havent bought these yet but super cobra arcade and scramble both look to be two of the best arcade ports on the system . And I havent gotten this yet either but Im going to.

If you were around for the Compute! type-in games from the magazines in the 80's, then Climber 5 is an amazing homage to that. Fun game too on the "enhanced" version.

Some of my favorites besides that I'm not sure got mentioned yet...

Qb

Halo 2600

Omicron

Power Off!

Chetiry

Stratogems Delux

Space Rocks

Star Castle

... and ANY of the Christmas games... they are all top quality.

I'm partial to arcade type games so ...Defender Arcade are among my favorites.

Especially if you've suffered with the original 2600 port of Defender.

Puzzle games, I like Chetiry .

Yes, yes, and yes! Chetiry is fabulous.

And just because no one has mentioned it yet: Hunchy 2 is outstanding. And  to those who have mentioned Strat-o-gems Deluxe, which is the best tetromino on the 2600 and my second favourite game for the system (behind Chetiry).

Also fantastic, but good luck finding them: Boulderdash (really not a 'homebrew') and Princess Rescue.

So here are recommendations and why.

Dungeon: a turn based Dungeon Crawl RPG game. (Dont own it yet but Anguna was fun when testing it out.)

Ko Cruiser: If you like Punchout you will like this.

If you like platformers: Stay Frosty 2, and Panky (dont own it yet but played early WIP)

Stella Stockings for good variety plus it has the first Stay Frosty.

Thrust+ is good for a challenge yourself type arcade experience.

Qb is good if you are looking for a puzzle game.

And if you want an arcade experience Ladybug is a great option.

I have a bunch of reviews posted in my blog, sorted by rating.

I'm very far behind the current crop though.

If I had to pick a top ten (in no particular order), I'd go with:

Super Cobra Arcade (nostalgia-wise I favor Scramble, but Super Cobra has more replay value)

Draconian

Chetiry

Stay Frosty 2

Fall Down

Seawolf

Strat-O-Gems Deluxe

Space Rocks

Assembloids

Medieval Mayhem

These tend to be the ones I keep going back to.

I don't think I've played a homebrew yet that wasn't worth getting. If I could only pick 5 favorites, I'd go with these...

Go Fish!

Space Cactus Canyon

Draconian

Wall Jump Ninja

A-VCS-tec Challenge

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Homebrews availible in the AA store.
