Werewolves & Wanderers (New XB Game)

Here's a little teaser of my new game. I'll be doing an official release this coming Saturday at the CTIUG meeting in Chicago.

It's fully complete and tested now. After the meeting in Chicago, I'll post a digital copy of the game here for free. I'll then take orders for the physical software package. I am still frantically getting all the materials together... there will be quite a few elements to the package, including laminated key cards, a custom disk sleeve and label, and a couple 'extras.' The cost for the software package will basically be materials and packaging. :)

Werewolves & Wanderers is a tribute to the adventure BBS game on the S&T software--from which this game draws its name. (The BBS version is a port of Tim Hartnell's adventure game from 1983)

This game is an entirely new adventure, while maintaining some of the quirks and nuances from the original game. This world is much larger than the original (by almost 3x) but still keeps that dark, 'closed-in' feel.

If you'd like to see the game in action, please come to the CTIUG meeting this Saturday. Everyone there will receive a free copy!!! You can also view the live feed of the CTIUG monthly meetings on UStream.

Thanks for the replies, guys!

After the copies I give away at the meeting, I imagine I will make probably an additional 10-15 copies of the software package. Pretty sure a market saturation will come fairly quickly for this type of game. :)

This is the tentative label (which will be on silver foil stock). The disk sleeve/cover is significantly more fun but that one will be a release-day-reveal. :)

Cool! Thanks for your interest, fellas. :)

If theres enough interest, Ill make up a few more. The lot Im making will be very fancy with silver foil label, custom diskette sleeve, laminated key cards and such. Ill probably number the packages as was done with the Holiday Demo limited version. Once those are gone, theyre gone. Ill make as many as we think there is a demand for.

Cool! Once again, thanks for the interest!!

I finished my printing proofs last night... should be going to the printer tomorrow for the real thing. just waiting on my foil labels to arrive in the mail. :) Ill have to take them in to a printing service because I do not have a laser printer.

Here are a couple pics of the sleeve proof. I was planning on saving them for later, but whatever... here ya go. :)

I absolutely love that you are publishing this on 5.25" Floppy. I love everything you've done. Feels like back in the day again. Can't wait to order mine. :)
I hope we'll be able to make backups so as not to wear out the original. I recently had to hack/repair my 5.25" drive so it works but can't be write protected. ooooo the risks....

Thanks so much for the kind words, brother! :). I am very glad to be able to contribute to the TI library.

Ill be releasing a digital version some time in the next week or two. I want to get the hard copies out first. The digital copy will be slightly different than the hard copy, but it wont affect gameplay. You can make as many backups as you like!! As a matter of fact, I recommend it, as the disk is both read from and written to. There is a scoring mechanism in the game, and your high score is saved onto disk each time you achieve a new high score. It saves your score and your name, so after each play through, the screen displays your current score and name, and the high score with whatever Wanderers name achieved it. It only writes over the previous score if you have bested it in the current run.

If you keep the original copy virgin, then you can always *erase* your high score by just making a fresh copy, or copying the virgin save file over to your existing disk.

The black version looks actually quite elegant. The green version is lovely as well, but maybe a bit cartoonish (which I actually really like about it)

These pics I took during packaging of the demos. There is a black one in the pix, but most are green. I think I have one black copy left in my stuff.
