Dead Macintosh Se?

Recommended Posts

The 1989 macintosh se fdhd my sister took to college still works almost 25 years after we bought it. Today 5 minutes ago I plugged in the cable and its dead. Refuses to turn on. Not worth fixing. But just curious. I tried flipping the switch several times. I tried different outlets. No luck. SE and FDHD were supposed to be the more reliable unlike the se30 with leaky capacitors. What could be wrong with it? And if it is truly deaad then its not even worth shipping and a penny on ebay?

I have a "dead" Mac Classic II myself. But it is definitely a capacitor issue with mine. It turns on and no screen sometimes. After a few power cycles I get weird crap on the screen..and very rarely it will produce a normal screen telling me it cannot find the dead HDD in it :) Does your get actual power? If so it might be a cap issue. If no power...well dead PSU would be the culprit (and then you'll find the caps are bad after replacing it)
