Xo4
I finally got me an cabinet for my game room, got it off a local classified site. Its a Space Invaders pt 2. It's never been in an actual arcade. From what I was told it was a floor demo for a local arcade dealer then the daughter of the company owner took it home and it sat in her basement getting very minimal use until I picked it up. Works good. Still has the coin mech but has a bypass wired up for free play. I'm also missing the key, but other than those minor things.it looks pretty original. Even has some of what I believe is the shipping plastic hanging around the legs. Pics are before I started cleaning it up. Tanooki
Wow nice find if anything due to the freshness of it due so nearly zero use and storage. Welcome to the club. Ive had a neogeo for a bit and got a modern cocktail this weekend. Theyre fun.
Keatah
Have you thought about giving it a thorough dust removal and cleaning?

Xo4
Have you thought about giving it a thorough dust removal and cleaning? That's the plan. It's got plenty of dust that needs to go.
Keatah
My immediate thought was dust on the electronics. Causes them to run hotter. Don't know if there fans in those cabinets.
Tanooki
I'd carefully remove what you can and get a few cans of compressed air in an open area and get that taken care of. If it can be comfortably gutted to the boards inside, more outside spray out for that too. It's so old I'd be afraid to mess with it more than necessary since it works so nicely but just as a concern for heat and other problems dust can cause. It sounds outlandish, but those boards can generally be run through a dishwasher, minus the dry cycle. Congrats on the pickup! Generally once you have one, more come fast and furious. Tanooki
In my case no about more. I've had a Neo Geo 2 slot for a time so far, but I did pick up a couple dozen games for that, yet they don't eat up more room like another cab. The multicade was dumb luck timing that had that fall into my lap and to get the a/v piece I needed to be able to use it again too. I hadn't intended adding but I'm not complaining when it's a 60in1 with some of my favorites on it.
Xo4
As much as I would like to get more. I don't have much space. I like the cocktail since I can leave it in the middle of the room. Although I'd make room for a Centipede machine.
Keatah
If you don't have space then definitely don't don't start overcrowding. Nothing worse than trying to play with your toys in too-small area. Maybe 1 or 2 cabs at absolute most, then use MAME to pick up the rest - either on a plain-jane PC box, or a mini bartop cab. Tanooki
As much as I would like to get more. I don't have much space. I like the cocktail since I can leave it in the middle of the room. Although I'd make room for a Centipede machine. See that is my problem. I have a fairly big room, but it's a retired one car garage from the 1950s so it's not exactly that wide either. I've got a back door on the room which had the laundry but now is my storage (and water heater) so I can't block it. One wall has my tv, pedal car, console stand and a bookshelf of games toys and other. The old door area is a window with my desk, the other wall is a window, neo geo, chair/table and pinball sideways. The cocktail I got free on offerup that so far is a little in the way but it's small enough I can deal leaving it in the middle-ish of the room off to the side some. Anything larger would be a nuisance so I get your concerns. All you can do is re-organize a room if there is a plausible way to do it, and if there is not, you're stuck. It's great your cabinet works and you like that game because if not, it would be a prime candidate for basically one of those multicade boards (which has SI on it), somehow wiring up a Neo-Geo in there for ease of space with those carts as a 1 slot would easily fit if you used a LCD screen, and not a whole lot else. Since they're really meant for bars, as in drinks and food go on them, you could perhaps move it to a spot where you could use it as a table too if you have the need so that could help. Keatah
Or gut the fucker and stick an R-Pi in there, with proper LCD. Use the remaining space to store things! It's like those school desks that have a flip-up top. Just give you a hard time! Edited February 3, 2018 by Keatah

While I've had a couple of cabinets since '84, I didn't really get the "arcade bug" until 6-7 years ago. Since then, I've learned to do a bit of repair work(comes in REAL handy), and picked up several more cabinets, which currently reside in our dining room(the ultimate proof that my wife loves me). I don't know if you have any cats, but they will love the cocktail.... mine LOVE my Dig Dug cocktail. It also makes a decent prep-table for dinner. =D Or gut the fucker and stick an R-Pi in there, with proper LCD. Use the remaining space to store things!
