+MrFish
Some more unarchived software that's been sitting around for a while... I bought a happy mod that I installed to archive a couple of these protected disks, but sold the drive with the mod before I had time to archive them. What I have is the following: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Mail List - MMG (CIB) - all materials are scanned but not edited/pdf'ed, etc. - non-working ATR (hangs on sector #712) Log file from Prosystem: [Drive 1] 1 Side(s), 40 Tracks, 18 SPT, 128 BPS[Drive 1] Sector 719 not found.[Drive 1] Operation Complete Software works on my 1050, so it's assumed to be copy-protected. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Astron IV - Syncro (CIB, Disk Version) - nothing scanned yet - no ATR yet (but I'm guessing this one may not be copy-protected) Original disk sleeve was damaged but I was able to pop open the sleeve and get it working in another sleeve. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Warrior of RAS: Dunzhin - ScreenPlay (CIB, Disk Version) [Note: No longer in my possession.] - all materials scanned but not edited/pdf'ed, etc. - non-working ATR (on-screen disk error notification on load) Log file from Prosystem: [Drive 1] 1 Side(s), 40 Tracks, 18 SPT, 128 BPS[Drive 1] Sector 10 not found.(+numerous other sectors not found between here)[Drive 1] Sector 347 not found.[Drive 1] Sector 360 has bad CRC[Drive 1] Sector 720 has bad CRC[Drive 1] Operation Complete Disk worked fine on my 1050 so assumed copy-protected. Unfortunately I've already sold this item, so no further imaging possible. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If anyone one wants to make proper ATX images of the two available pieces of software, I'm willing to send them out but I'm not willing to pay for shipping in either direction. Also, if anyone is interested in looking at the two non-working ATR's, they're welcome to do so; just ask and I'll post them. I plan to start working further on the scanned materials as I get time here in the coming month or so. +MrFish
A couple more that I forgot about... Not unarchived software but unarchived scans. I have scanned materials for the following: 1. Oil's Well - Sierra On-Line (CIB, Disk) - all materials scanned and edited just need to PDF the manual, which will be simple (will probably work on this first) ---------------------------------------------------------- 2. K-razy Shoot-Out - K-Byte (Sealed Copy) [Old, Rare K-Byte Box Type] - only scans of sealed box available Item was sold off. +MrFish
Here are the Oil's Well & K-razy Shoot-Out scans/PDF's. For K-razy Shoot-Out I've included both scans and pictures (that I took before selling). The scans are a little blurry because of the shrink wrap and because of the box being deformed. So, you can decide what's better to post on Atarimania, Allan. Also, Atarimania originally requested these materials, which I still have in possession. But I noticed they're currently covered on Atarimania. If any portions of these are still needed, let me know. - The Institute- Dungeons of Despair- Alien Hell Sierra - Oil's Well.zip K-Byte - K-razy Shoot-Out.zip Edited February 28, 2018 by MrFish
www.atarimania.com
Everything is needed for Dungeons of Despair (including a dump). Is Alien Hell on tape or disk? If on cassette, does the game have any loading music? Do you have the graphics version of The Institute (ScreenPlay) or text edition (Med Systems)? +MrFish
OK, it looks like I have a couple more that Atarimania still needs: Here's what I have: 1. Tricky Tutorial #4: Basics of Animation - ESI (CIB) - Pictures, but no scans (particularly, no manual scans, but a few pics of the manual) - A clean, working ATR ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Tricky Tutorial #6: Sound & Music - ESI (CIB) - Pictures, but no scans (same situation as above) - A PRO image, IIRC works fine PRO Log File: [Drive 1] 1 Side(s), 40 Tracks, 18 SPT, 128 BPS[Drive 1] Attempting to set Happy "Unhappy Mode"[Drive 1] Sector 236 has phantom sector(s)[Drive 1] Sector 711 has phantom sector(s) Edited February 28, 2018 by MrFish
+MrFish
Everything is needed for Dungeons of Despair (including a dump). Alright, I still have this one CIB. Is Alien Hell on tape or disk? If on cassette, does the game have any loading music? This is the disk version CIB. Do you have the graphics version of The Institute (ScreenPlay) or text edition (Med Systems)? Wasn't aware there was a text edition; I have the graphical version CIB.
Farb
These are great MrFish, thanks for sharing. If no one has already taken you up on your offer to ship the disks for imaging, let me know and we can arrange something!

I think sending the disks to Farb would be ideal and you can post the scans here DjayBee has already created ATX files for Mail List and Dunzhin. I want to check them out before posting, to make sure they have full functionality. What I can do also is add you both to the private conversation with DjayBee and myself and you can both help in testing if you like. If it happens that imaging is necessary, then we can go that route. What would be needed if you can: Dungeons of Despair disk and jacket Alien Hell disk and box The Institute disk (box if different than the one on Atarimania) OK, I'll check it out and then see what I have and don't have for those. erichenneke
I just made archives off of my original disks for the Nite Lite BBS software ( by Paul Swanson in 1985 ) I haven't seen it archived anywhere else online, so I wanted to go ahead and upload it here. I ran a BBS based on Nite Lite (which I subsequently modified, as most SysOps did back in the day) from around '86-'88. I had it set up using an ATR-8000, and also used the ramdisk called V:Handler which was also by Paul Swanson. It was cool because all of the menus and message bases were loaded into ramdisk. Anyway, here are the files I archived: NITELITE.ATR (the original master system disk for the BBS software) VHANDLER.ATR (the ramdisk from Nite Lite Systems) MYDS3116 (MyDOS 3.116 with the ATR8000 RS-232 driver, also has AtariWriter on it) -Eric NITELITE.ATR VHANDLER.ATR MYDS3116.ATR Edited March 3, 2018 by erichenneke
Atari_Ace
I just made archives off of my original disks for the Nite Lite BBS software ( by Paul Swanson in 1985 ) BTW, Paul Swanson wrote the "From Here to Atari" column in Micro magazine from November 1982 to April 1984. He mentions his BBS often in those columns, which I have collected here: https://ksquiggle.neocities.org/micro/fromhere.htm
bfollett
Paul Swanson actually lived and ran his BBS in the same town as I live. No idea where he is now. It was nice having a local BBS back in the days of ridiculous long distance rates. Bob

What I can do also is add you both to the private conversation with DjayBee and myself and you can both help in testing if you like. I can understand you are reluctant to post rare original disks. But please note that DjayBee usually just makes a speculative ATX image. He is very good at that, so most of the time it is correct, but there is no way to be sure without making a real image. Also note that Farb makes a raw low level image that is much more detailed than an ATX image. Again, I understand your concern and nobody can blame you if you don't want to send the disks to Farb. Just noting the benefit. Edited March 6, 2018 by ijor

So, I'd already planned to contact Farb concerning sending the disks to him (when I get the materials together).
erichenneke
Ok. here's some more stuff that I just made images of (.PRO and .ATR ) from original master disks. See attached zip files. They include... - Math Busters by Spinnaker .ATR image, and picture of the disk - Microsoft Basic by Atari .PRO image, and picture of the disk. - Paint by Atari .PRO image, and picture of the disk. - Graphics Library 1 for Print Ship by Broderbund .PRO image, and picture of the disk. - ATR8000 Auto-Term by SWP .PRO image, and picture of the disk. If you just want the dumps and don't care about the JPG pictures of the physical disks, then just grab the A8IMAGEDUMPS.ZIP file. The A8PICS.ZIP contains photograph JPG files of the original disks, so it is a MUCH bigger file of course. -Eric A8IMAGEDUMPS.zip A8PICS.zip

evilmoo
Paul Swanson actually lived and ran his BBS in the same town as I live. No idea where he is now. His name shows up on some relatively recent patents for Fluke Networks. Not sure if it's the same guy or not, but if you're interested in tracking him down, that might not be a bad place to start. (BTW it's "Paul S. Swanson", at least according to the BBS documentation that was posted.)
