NISMOPC
Congratulations! It makes you feel like a kid again don't it? Absolutely, well except the re-learning part. Almost like riding a bike. Almost!
Mark loves Stella
So stoked. Haven't been online via an Atari in over 30 years... Atari 130XE running Ice-T 2.67 via SIO2PC (Respeqt) => Atari 850 => CX-87 Modem Cable => wimodem232 => WiFi router Took very little time setting up the wimodem232 with my WiFi router and was working within minutes. The OLED screen is absolutely amazing and wireless connection... heck yea!!!!!! 03231821191.jpg THANK YOU remowilliams for pointing this producct out to me. Be sure to check out ICE-T build 280. It uses sprites for 16 colors. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/217539-ice-t-xe-276-released/page-6
V-Cool
Connected the WiModem232 to my 800XL using a P: R: Connection, prconn.hnd, and ICE-T Using the 9pin to 25 pin cable that came with the P: R: it communicated with the WiModem232 right away, using a standard 9-25 cable I have didn't work. There must be something I've forgotten about the P: R: cable having unique wiring or something. Connected to a few BBS at 9600bps and didn't see any issues. Need to try out file transfer but the BBS's I connected to didn't seem to have any A8 files. Thanks for the heads up on these. Just ordered one. Have a P:R Connection as well to hook it up with. :-)
BillC
Thanks for the heads up on these. Just ordered one. Have a P:R Connection as well to hook it up with. :-) I have read that the P:R:C is supposed to be able to manage 19,200, I know that the MIO is capable of that.
+Nezgar
I have read that the P:R:C is supposed to be able to manage 19,200, I know that the MIO is capable of that.It will allow you to configure 19,200, but I can speak from personal experience it will corrupt 1 out of every 10 bytes or so. Unless there was a later improved version. I ran 19,200 with hardware flow control on my MIO , and it worked flawlessly for years on my BBS. I have not used, but have read that R:Verter type interfaces can more reliably do 19,200. Simpler logic only type device, instead of a PIA. Lastic
Networking being one of my many hats, I had the brainwave to configure the AUX port on a Cisco router as a serial terminal server and it works great! Connected via PR connection, BobTerm at 9600 to a couple telnet BBS's in ATASCII mode tonight. It was a very nostalgic experience haha. Old cisco routers can be had cheaply, but of course have a bit of a higher learning curve if you're not familiar with configuring them... future post idea to document I guess If you find the time to document the setup which device connects to what , I would be very much interested, have a lot of Cisco (and other vendors) network gear laying around. _The Doctor__
some units can do 19.2 some can't depends on condition and the chips also, lastly some software fudge the 19.2 it's good on one device and not another... very annoying...
Lastic
So stoked. Haven't been online via an Atari in over 30 years... Having finally found an Atari 850, I have been able to use my wimodem232 also with Ice-T but the one thing I miss are colors in ANSI ? Also not sure what settings I should use for the linefeeds, flow control . Only have been able to boot the older ATR version of ice-t using RespeQt also with a poor man's SIO2PC cable , how would I use the newer alpha version which only seems to be an XEX where I can't tell it to load ATARI850.HND ? talanthalus
I've had free time to search around for getting one of my systems online, and came across this thread while hunting for an alternative to the Wifi232. I've placed my order, so we'll see how all of this goes. I've probably got a handful of other things to get sorted out before I can make anything work in the first place, but it is a start. Thanks for those who have posted information on this solution.
