learn me on my new 520st

Recommended Posts

ok

already have a great collection of old computers

pretty much missing an amiga , pc jr and an Atari st/tt

so I went ahead and bought a 520 st to get me started

from the pictures it looks like the one I bought does not have a built in floppy

I did order a sf354 (hopefully that will at least get me loading software ) ,cant find any working sf314's

but what I'm really interested in is a usb / sd based drive to run everything off of

can someone school me in what I need to get a floppy emulator up and running on this thing

any easy upgrades available

thanks in advance

SF354 is with single sided drive. But even double sided floppy drive today is not good idea. Drives, disks are way too old and that makes whole usage very frustrating and unreliable.

So yes, some Gotek or HxC floppy emulator. Or even better SD card based UltraSatan (as modern hard disk solution) - there is plenty of SW what will work from it too.

Easy upgrades ? Look exxos site: http://www.exxoshost.co.uk/atari/

Sounds like what you need is a GOTEK which will go nicely in that piece of crap SF354 drive you have!
