Eltigro
I feel like there had been a discussion on here a while back about the difference between the model 1 and model 3 Intellivisions that went past just "It's a different color and it has an LED". Anyway, I opened mine up and took some pics and put them in an Imgur ablum. I didn't go too far... it appears that I'd have to desolder some stuff to get to the actual board, but I took pics of what I could. Anyway, I think it started when I mentioned that Donkey Kong and Carnival don't work on my INTV III and someone else said that they worked on theirs. Found someone on Reddit that says that they work on their model III. Anyway, enjoy the pics... https://imgur.com/a/19F3J I can post the pics here if necessary, but figured the imgur link should work well. Also made a few comments about them.
mr_me
Two INTV systems, also made in USA, have been found with Intellivision II EXEC roms. Yours could be another. If you have a flash memory cart you can run an exec checksum test to verify instead of removing the metal shield. Yours is sn A022668 the others are sn A021202 and A8833. There could also be variations in sound chips i.e. the AY-3-8914A/AY-3-8916 that cause some sounds to be a little different from the original AY-3-8914. Not sure if any of these have been documented in INTV systems. Yours does have the bubbled keypads which I don't think are common on these things. They also mght have that extra plastic at the cable connector, so the inside of the controller might look different. Eltigro
That is interesting. Unfortunately, I do not have any kind of flash memory cart. Really haven't gotten any Intellivision stuff since I got these. Have these two systems and about 17 games, mostly boxed with manuals and overlays, for $40. Which was about five times what some store offered the guy I bought them from.
Flojomojo
It's remarkable how simple everything looks inside, almost like it's something that we could built ourselves.
mr_me
You also have the distinction of owning the highest serial number on record for a 2609a. Your Intellivision was one of the last 2609 models made by Mattel (main board by Kalex). Anyone have a sn higher than 1842925.
+eebuckeye
Mine is 087550. Does that tell anything useful?

Don't know how long you want the pics to stay hosted or anything.. But it's a fact that 3rd party file hosting stops working in a few years due to policy changes. I looked at the Intellivision Serial Number Database, but wasn't sure how up to date that was, or how comprehensive. Doesn't seem like very many people have entered numbers. It is a nice idea that I might have something special, though. Don't know how long you want the pics to stay hosted or anything.. I can create an album on the user pics here on AA and link that when I get home tonight.
nick3092
Not sure I have ever seen a production piece of equipment come out with resistors paralleled on it before. Seen it done by some repair guys who worked on old tube radios though. Those guys were paid by the radio. So they did what it takes to get it out the door ASAP. Eltigro
As promised, here's the link to the AA gallery of the photos in the Imgur link above... just in case... http://atariage.com/forums/gallery/album/2153-intellivisions/

A never before seen photo of the chips on that board would be nice. I anticipate the rom location at U3 is empty. And yes I used rev's serial database. Any higher serials won't be much higher than yours.
+-^CrossBow^-
I hate the fact that the used rivets on the voltage regulators and heatsinks on the Intv III power supply board?! Guess they never expect those to die or require a new application of thermal compound on them. Someone posted a pic of their power supply board not long ago where the smaller filter cap on the power supply board was a radial type factory installed vs axial as was the norm with these back then? I also have a Intv III but it says INTV III and not Super Pro System on it. But I'm surprised the power LED was just grounded to the RF shield, +5 attached from the ribbon mainboard section, no resistor that I can see, and hot glued into place?! I guess they never figured these would be worked on in the future hence these quick assembly methods here.
