jericho_21
Hello, fellow Atarians, I have a question. Can a KoalaPad or Atari Touch Tablet possibly interact with Mark Pelczarski's Graphics Magician Picture Painter for the Atari 8-bit computer line? I was curious about that because I am thinking about using one of the two for my copy of the application. Are either of the two drawing pad systems compatible with it? Any advice would be appreciated here. Thanks! Edited March 27, 2018 by jericho_21
+Nezgar
I just skimmed through the Graphics Magician manual on AtariMania, and the review in Antic and both seem to mention only joystick control. I've never used this program, but it looks interesting as it saves the pictures as the procedures to re-draw the images (vector graphics) instead of the resulting screen bitmap like most other programs (raster graphics) like koalapainter and atarigraphics. This means the files saved would be much smaller. The manual does mention that if other controllers are supported, it will be mentioned on inserts included with the product. So, I guess there might be a chance a later version added support... Edited March 28, 2018 by Nezgar
jericho_21
Yes, that is possible. I am assuming that it could be. Thanks for the advice. Appreciated, as always.
Gunstar
I've owned The Graphic's Magician since 1985 just after I bought my first 130XE. The copyright date in the manual is 1984. All I have now is the manual and the disk, I don't recall it ever coming with an insert noting new input devices made compatible. I liked it because you could use DLI's. But as soon as I had my first Koala pad I moved on to Rambrandt which uses DLI's and even more advanced features. It does allow all devices but a mouse (Rambrandt). Maybe someone could hack TGM for multi-mouse. That would be fantastic. Edited March 28, 2018 by Gunstar
jericho_21
Yes, it would be fantastic if it could be hacked for multiple input devices. It could be even done legally, without any issues, because it is now in the Public Domain. No piracy issues there. So, it is quite possible. That is a brilliant idea, actually. Thanks. jericho_21
Speaking of hacking TGM, I wonder how long that such an undertaking would take to complete. I personally would love to see it work for KoalaPad and Touch Tablet both. It would certainly be a whole lot easier to accomplish with if it had stylus support. Heck, Light Pen support would be nice. But, is it cost-effective to do that? Since the app is freeware now, it would have to be freeware. At least, in my own personal estimation. Thanks for letting me share.
