+mizapf
The cool thing about that is that the SRT and ART can actually be proved right or wrong, and it seems as if Einstein really hit the nail on the head. I am currently about to finish reading a book about superstring theory (Brian Greene, "The Elegant Universe [...]"), and that theory may forever remain a theory because it tries to describe things that are in principle too small to be detected. The SRT and ART are really elegant. The superstring theory sounds to me (as an "advanced layman") like a sequence of "it must be this way", "it sounds weird but we need 9 dimensions so that the equations remain elegant", "it is too elegant to be false". SRT and ART are science, but superstring theory is philosophy with mathematics. [Edit: In English it is STR = special theory of relativity and GTR = general theory of relativity] Edited July 27, 2018 by mizapf
+mizapf
Tomorrow ... no escape ... OK, you don't know celsius scale ... let me calculate ... 22°C=71°F, and 34°C = 93°F. We're starting to have forest fires, it has not rained for three weeks by now. Today, my train had to take a detour because of fires beside the railway track. This is the hottest July that I can remember. And in Germany, we rarely have air conditioning in private homes. Two weeks ago, north Scandinavia had 30°C at the polar circle - just unbelievable. +mizapf
Yet another lunar eclipse (we call it short Mofi = Mondfinsternis, lit. Moon darkness). (taken on July 27 between 23:13h and 23:15h CEST while the Moon was leaving the umbra; using a Sony a58 with Tamron 70-300mm on tripod, ISO 400 with 1s, f/5.6, using Gimp to overlay three shots and apply unsharp masking)
jrhodes
Listen and silent are spelled with the same letters. There is a lesson to learn there. Election results! and lies! let's recount are also spelled with the same letters, and there is a lesson to learn there as well.

RXB
RXB WITNESS.png This is more than uncalled for... Have I personally attacked you? Should I just leave the TI community to you and your hateful Cronies?
Omega-TI
I'm sorry, I thought it was kind of funny myself. I understand and appreciate your enthusiasm towards your RXB, but sometimes... frequently it leaks into places not entirely appropriate.
RXB
Everyone promotes what they do and mine is GPL, RXB and SAMS. Now I have a F18 so I will also promote that soon as I create some interface for it. I do not get it? Someone pushes Forth or Assembly or some product in my RXB forum and I do not complain about it going off subject. But I am attacked for doing that? This is clearly a real double standard. Retrospect
I had an idea you might see it as an attack. I can assure you, it's not intended as an "attack" at all, more over, tongue-in-cheek humour. Satire, you might say.
Omega-TI
We all on occasion get off topic and some, like me can get a little single minded in our enthusiasm. I guess we all just need to be mindful that we don't drag things off topic when it's not appropriate.
Retrospect
Okay if Rich is wanting to know more about how this picture came about and why I personally did it .... let me tell you since this is the off topic dumping thread. I don't like being called an "idiot" and other such words. I got called this by Rich, on FB, because I happened to post something that involved President Trump's visit to the UK. Rich had never gotten involved in my posts before, this was the first time and he pretty much jumped on it and within 5 minutes I was "a idiot" simply because I had a different view to his own. This meant that I would easily persuade myself to ridicule him when the time came. I wouldn't hold back. Anyone he disagrees with is either wrong, or "a idiot". I don't like being called that, I took THAT as a personal attack so yeah you have attacked me personally. Who else here thinks Rich got off lightly with this great cartoon? And he's still not happy.

+OLD CS1
I found this interesting - even a mention of a few 9900 instructions. I will never be able to read "BLWP" as "bl(w)ip" again. Never saw it as a real word but rather as an amalgam of all of the consonant sounds with the natural transition between "L" and "P" interrupted by a retarded "W" sound.

Omega-TI
Okay - This is an off-topic eBay post because it's an << FRS radio that was voluntarilly pulled by Radio Shack back in the day >> for 'skirting the FCC rules' concerning FRS radios and attached antennas. This design made it possible to have the antenna outside the car, using the roof as a ground plane and increasing distance. The rules state antennas must be fixed and non-removable, they got around this by putting the guts in the antenna section and seperating the power and microphone. Anyway, if you are into FRS radio, you might want to buy a couple. I used one of these years ago and was amazed at the range I got compared to handhelds.
