AvP hacked for Pro Control strafe?

Hello all,

 

I was thinking again how nice it would be if the shoulder buttons on the pro controller made one strafe in AvP.

Surely the ROM could be hacked to swap the inputs around a bit.

 

Does anyone know of this has been attempted?

Or does it sound like a good idea to someone with the skills?

You can strafe with the X&Z buttons.I thought that was already quite good.

I would prefer strafing with the shoulder buttons, but I don't mind using the X&Z buttons.

as the shoulder buttons map to 4 & 6 on the numeric pad i dont think this is the best idea because if you press both of those buttons they arent wired indevidually and you end up sending the right or left (cant remember which) signal to the jaguar where ideally right + left = nothing

 

this could be rather irritating to the player if both the buttons were pressed at once

I think that might be a bit more work than changing a few bits of code.

You could always mod a pro controller with a switch to change 7 & 9 to 4 & 6.

Pro controllers are worth more than their weight in gold, man. I'm not drilling holes in that sucker
