Point and Click Adventure Games

Recommended Posts

Ever since I modded my PSP I got into thinking, not about the emulators I installed on it or the PS1 games. But Point and Click Adventure games, I know they aren't the flashiest games out there, most of them look like interactive cartoons. For example, I have been a fan of both Discworld 1 and 2 since the 90s, I even wrote my own walkthrough for Discworld 2 when I bought the PS1 versions which I still have. So after more years than I care to say I played both games recently and I really enjoyed them, and the humor was great. Unfortunately, I did have issues on my modded PSP with both games, the dialog would not play sometimes. But I was able to complete both games. It was fun taking it on the go, and I wish PSN had made these available. Okay I admit I tried using SCUMMVM PSP version first after finding DOS copies of both games, okay it worked fine...but it would save. I asked around and got zero answers, so I downloaded a copy of both games already converted to run on a modded PSP. Discworld Noir is another issue not released in the US and having a bad rep I made my own playable version. Which I will get to later after playing Grim Fandango Remastered on my unmodded Vita. Great game and the clues make about as much sense as the ones for both Discworld games. Meaning walkthrough time, and a gameplay video for the trickier parts. I got the game from PSN like I did for Day of the Tentacle, after looking for a walkthrough on that latter game I was happy to find it had as an Easter Egg a playable version of Maniac Mansion hidden in the game.

Now for the reason of this post besides Blazing Dragons PS1 is there any other Point and Click game I am missing that I can play?

just so i understand better, are you talking games for Playstation? PC Emulated?

The classic Monkey Island ones are good. I think Full Throttle is good, in its own way. If you're talking pure 'PC' games, the Sierra On-Line ones are super- I especially like the Space Quest games.

To be honest my main focus on gaming happens to be handhelds these days

If you have a 3DS or DS I highly recommend you play Hotel Dusk room 215 on DS and James Noir Hollywood crimes on 3DS. While theyre both somewhat in the point and click genres, Hotel dusk has a visual novel aspect (you actually turn your DS sideways to hold it like a book) and Hollywood crimes is focused on puzzle solving, but theyre great games!

Old Point and Click Adventure I like, broken sword, the old monkey Island games, the old Indiana Jones andentures are also awesome. The X Files Game is also quite nice. If you like the old FMV Games and the X files Franchise. There quite a lot of These FMV adentures from the 90s. Some of them are quite nice, others are really bad.

There are some more modern games in this genre that may have gotten a straight port to one of those handhelds:

Deponia (and sequels)

The Book of Unwritten Tales (and sequels)

The Longest Journey (and sequels)

Siberia (and sequels)

Side note for the OP - read your posts and edit yourself. Seriously, just one read through with some edits would really help with thread comprehension.

I just recently installed and started playing the old Westwood Studio adventure game of Blade Runner released back in '97. Wonderful game that really captures the atmosphere of the original movie well.

You have to do some google fu to find a new installer someone made to allow the game to install onto a newer OS, but it does work and works well!

I have this game loaded up on an XP machine waiting to get back into it. This is a bucket list game for me.

I think I got the CD ISOs from internet archive . . .

For PS1, 3do and saturn also snatcher, policenauts and darkseed.

I think their are a few others for PSP but I rarely use mine, there are lots for the Vita.

If you are running emulators on you PSP there are lot of options. For example you can plays hundreds(?) of PC adventure games using ScummVM.

If you use Handy PSP emulator there is Dracula which is pretty decent adventure game for the lynx. Plus have few on Genesis like Psy-o-blade, I don't remember if the PSP genesis emulator supports SegaCD but there is at least a a dozen good adventure games on the that. Same deal PC Engine/TG-16 although there are less english friendly adventure games on it. There are also a few decent adventures games on the NES that can also be emulated on the PSP.

Regarding the DS there are also a lot of native titles along with emulated games as mentioned ealier, I would say atleast 20 really good ones.
