maxdrive
Do you think if Atari did produce the NES in America like what was initially being worked out it would have been as big as a phenomenon. Also how would this have effected the 7800 would some NES exclusive games like super Mario bros saw a 7800 port?

DracIsBack
Atari was considered synonymous with the video game crash and 'poison' for some retailers.
fiddlepaddle
Atari did marketing in a completely different way than Nintendo, who have generally been very creative and extremely customer focused. Unless the same individuals were somehow involved, their campaign would have led (if it led at all) in a different direction, with probably more promotion of Atari-owned IP instead. SMB? Maybe, but I bet it wouldn't have been the pack in...
+sixersfan105
There is no way the 7800 would have been released if Atari had a distribution deal with Nintendo on the NES. Im 99.999% positive the contract between the two companies would have forbid Atari from manufacturing a competing system.
