Masterplay in place of loop-back board

I've read a couple places that when using the diagnostic cart for controller testing, that you can use a Masterplay interface in place of the loop-back board. The loop-back board plugs into all four (or two) ports. Do you just plug the Masterplay interface into port 1 and start the tests, or is there variation from the Field Service Manual flow chart. Does the Masterplay only test one port at a time?

Otherwise, can you just plug in the controller in question into port 1 and adjust the pokey/controller using the manual selection of pokey adjust from the diagnostic cart menu?

Edit: I figured this out through trial and error. You can just plug in the Masterplay/controller and test it, although game results after making controller/pokey adjustments with the cart are not that great, at least for the more finicky games, although it is probably helpful if calibration is way off.
