seastalker
I was never a photographer so I am holding a CF card for the first time that came with my Apple II solution. It reads CF as well as my Side 2 cart. Now I must get a CF reader and hope to get some ideas. Assuming I think of it like an SD card, I'd likely stick with Sandisk as a brand for any new cards I get. I don't think there will ever be a need for a 32GB card on an Apple II and Atari 8 bit line even with the entire software catalog. 1. Is there a speed 10 aspect to consider like SD cards? 2. Should I get a certain small capacity card because they may work better? 3. Should I go with a USB solution that reads many different card types or is a legacy version better for some reason? 4. Any other CF card reader buying tips to look for I may not have considered? Thanks.
JR>
Get a SD to CF adapter and skip the CF cards altogether. Edited July 23, 2018 by JR>
+slx
There's not much sense in using bigger than 2GB unless you have very ambitious video plans.... There are different speeds but all but the oldest cards should have decent speed. I'd get some branded USB 3.0 reader, maybe even two as CF-compatible ones seem to die out. I use one of these. vattari
I use one those SD to CF adapters with my SIDE2: I did have one adapter fail though after removing the card regularly. Other this combination, along with the cheaper SD cards, give you better value for money without compromising performance or reliability. For what it's worth, the SD-to-CF Card adapter thing works great in my SIDE2 cart. Well worth picking up.
