doctorclu
Is there a release of Virtual Jaguar of version 2.1.4 or higher out there somewhere? Thanks in advance!

Flojomojo
What Jaguar games are you into? Chances are good there's something similar or better you could run instead. LikeTyphoon 2001 in place of Tempest 2000, or the PC versions of the many Amiga ports.
ggn
The official git repository for virtual jaguar only goes up to v2.1.3 so I'm not sure where you heard about newer versions! Recently I got donated a very old mac mini for testing rmac on mac, so I thought I might as well try building vj on it. After some fiddling it was done! So go to http://virtualjaguar.kicks-ass.net/builds/and grab it - it obviously works here but I dunno if I should be including more files. If anyone can provide some feedback about this, it'd be great!

Flojomojo
Dude! Again! This is the 'Jaguar' forum. Not the 'Anything BUT the Jaguar' forum Hey, just trying to be helpful. I don't see how that's any worse than saying "run a Windows emulator" when someone's looking for a Mac program! I guess if I were desperate to play emulated Jaguar, http://virtualjaguar.kicks-ass.net/builds/ would be worth a try. But so much of that platform's stuff is elsewhere, too. (Dude! Again!)

doctorclu
So let's see... Time to install M$ Windows on that Mac! Might do a multi-boot sometime. Time to buy a Jaguar Got three. One is white. You could try to roll your own via WineBottler: http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/ Use Winebottler/Wine for using many Atari 2600 dev programs, so... yeh, I guess I could. Thanks for the reminder. What Jaguar games are you into? Chances are good there's something similar or better you could run instead. LikeTyphoon 2001 in place of Tempest 2000, or the PC versions of the many Amiga ports. There are other ports of Tempest. Might try Tempest 4K on the PS4 soon. The official git repository for virtual jaguar only goes up to v2.1.3 so I'm not sure where you heard about newer versions! If anyone can provide some feedback about this, it'd be great! Awesome, need to get with you and learn how to compile those. I go in stages where I compile programs, and then I don't for a while and forget how it's done. Thanks for this, I'll check it out. Dude! Again! This is the 'Jaguar' forum. Not the 'Anything BUT the Jaguar' forum True. I think he means 2.1.2 - I gave him the wrong number And here is the reason I originally asked. Playtesting... some games work in the above 2.1.0 revision (which I currently have). It's doctorclu. He's a Bubsy fan. Don't tell him to "play something better" Excect another Bubsy game. Yes, Bubsy the Woolies Strikes Back (PS4) actually passed Fractured Furry Tales (Jaguar) as my favorite Bubsy game. I know, shock!

My Mac is running Sierra 10.12.6 Hi and thanks for testing. The mac has El Capitan running which is a bit older. I was told that usually building stuff is upwards compatible. So maybe this isn't the case or I did something wrong. Will investigate!

ggn
Ok, I punished the old box into compiling qt for most of the day, then let it compile vj again and got this: http://virtualjaguar.kicks-ass.net/builds/vj-2.1.3-osx.zip. This should be a static build, i.e. you should need nothing fancy to run it. So if you can try it out, it'd be great! (well, when I ran the binary it did give me some warnings about deprecated stuff blah blah blah. Other than that it worked fine here) Makes sense. Do I just need to load the QT libraries? That's not impossible either but I have no idea how would one do that - qt's website is a disaster for the developer, moreso for the end user! doctorclu
GGN this works quite well and this revision allows for more game testing that was not possible before. From all us Mac users and Jaguar gamers, thanks!
Shamus
On the Mac version you definitely want to link everything in statically.
ggn
On the Mac version any OS you definitely want to link everything in statically. FTFY Anyway, the machine will remain set up for this so it should be possible to build past and future versions.
Felyx
Hi, As far as I know, the latest version of VJ for Mac is the 2.1.0 and it works very well so you shouldn't need to run a PC version of VJ under Wine It is quite fast: N.B: I placed Jiffi on the same folder but Jiffi runs under Wine, not VJ. The roms are in the software folder. I am currently running it on my iMac under High Sierra. To do the same, you need VJ 2.1.0, QT and to precise the path for roms and that's it. I detailed step by step how to here: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/247783-virtual-jaguar-for-mac-need-for-qt-4-help-help/page-3 Below are some links: VJ 2.1.0 Mac version: http://www.mirari.fr/xsZe or here: http://icculus.org/virtualjaguar/tarballs/ QT 4.8.5: https://download.qt.io/archive/qt/4.8/4.8.5/ then chose the 4.8.5 .dmg version and change the cartridge path with for example "/Users/user/desktop/virtualjaguar/software/" if your "software" folder is on your desktop: Edited August 8, 2018 by Felyx
