+Larry
I'm curious... has anyone here used a Retropie to emulate an Atari? Looks like a PITA to set up, but presumably it doesn't need to be done all the time. Will it emulate at 100% of Atari speed? Faster maybe with different settings? Does it crash often? As I said, just curious -- I have a ton of original hardware, but Retropie is intriguing. -Larry

It runs everything at full speed, I use it mostly as a PAL machine. Unless you are looking at using the other emulators, I would skip Retropie and go directly to atari800. E474
I have a raspberry pi model 1 B that works very well with retropie and emulation station - I use it for 8-bit Atari and MAME gaming, but it is also set up as an sio2bsd machine. Unfortunately I don't have very much time at the moment to use it.
tschak909
I did a lot of work to improve the Atari800 integration into Lakka, roughly a year ago: I much prefer Lakka to RetroPie, much tighter integration, faster boot-up, etc. -Thom
E474
That does look very nice, I think I will give it a try out with a spare memory card (sometime). Thanks for posting about lakka (and improving a8 support).
_The Doctor__
Were you okay health wise making that video? it sounds like you are not able to breathe, this alarms me.
tschak909
I was very tired, did that at about 2am in the morning. My health has also drastically changed from that time period, as I was subsequently diagnosed with diabetes at the beginning of this year, and drastically changed my diet and lifestyle. I have infinitely more energy and have lost approximately 40 pounds (and am losing more). -Thom
_The Doctor__
Very nice, of course I am happily biased in a positive direction for many reasons! color palette selection might be needed or a tint adjust slider
tschak909
There is unfortunately, no slider control that can be specified in the retroarch options page, so I had to work with what was there at the time. Retroarch is constantly improving, however. -Thom

tschak909
Drastically restricted diet, mostly ketogenic. Insanely strong coffee for breakfast (I roast my own coffee), with heavy cream. Lunch is typically a soylent, 400 calories. Dinner is e.g. a salad. Do this just about every day. Walk the dog at least once a week, need to do more exercising. -Thom
+Cafeman
My son set up a Raspberry PI 2 for me a couple years ago, when he got a RP3. I never really learned my way around it though, and I haven't used it for over a year. Today I hooked it up and realized the Atari 2600 couldn't play the ARM homebrews like Draconian. And I realized I didn't have an emulator for A8/5200. So I'm doing the menu Update function now. I hope it will update the Atari 2600 emulator (is it Stella?) so I can play the ARM games on it. Or at least try them out using my gaming TV where the RP is hooked up. For some reason we had trouble trying to load an Atari 5200 emulator on it years back, I hope to figure it (and Atari 8bit) this time. I might have some more questions. But to comment on the OP, all the emulation seemed pretty spot on using the Retro PIE, from Atari 2600 to Genesis. PSX games seemed to work well too, to my surprise. TIX
I have setup Atari800 on my retropie (pretty hard to setup compared to other emulators), but it seems to run the games at double the speed.. I don't know why
snicklin
The trick is to have two instances of it open Then they will both run at normal speed

Great combination of tech + a reason to get outside and explore. Easy to start with the free iphone/android app, and healthy support for more rugged GPS receivers if you get into it more, offline use, etc.. It has it's own great community surrounding it too. tane
Yes, here ► https://atariteca.blogspot.com/2016/11/como-instalar-emulador-atari-en.html There are new emulator versions with better compatibility: Start Button (F4) mapped to the joystick and 2 buttons: Official Atari800 emulator version 4.0.0 Fork: RPI version for Atari 800/5200 emulation Fork: RPI version for Atari 5200 emulation Retropie Forum: two triggers for Moon Patrol and H.E.R.O.! However, it's still an emulator difficult to configure. Can Atariteca update the Retropie image with the newest emulator and/or paste .atari800.cfg examples with the new features?
