Atari CEO interview on Fox business channel on U-tube

You know what helps your stock price?

It isn't exactly a good time for almost any stocks value currently so your comment isn't as witty as you think it is.

Atari has come a long way in the last year with many things as far as business potential is concerned, numerous projects, partnerships, public exposure, new websites- both Atari.com and an english version of the investor site, association on nasdaq, etc.

I know it is easy for you guys to sit back and throw mud- but if you can't see that the company is growing and expanding, well you just aren't looking hard enough. Of course investors pay more attention than an everyday person.

I see comments such as 'they didn't build that' when some pf the products pop up. That is intentional. That is good business. At a basic level in the old days you hired people to work at your company and they work on projects- but that brings on it's own myriad of headache- increased cost and stress from needed space, management, HR, benefits, vacation, what to do with the person once the project was done, etc- and each new person needed just grows that web.

Fred just said in an interview-

"In mid-2000s, the company had 2,500 employees. Everyone was on payroll. If you look at the motion picture industry, MGM used to have everyone on payroll. Today that’s no longer the case. What’s happened to the motion picture industry I’ve tried to apply it to the video game industry, so all the developers are external studios for instance; it doesn’t make sense to have them on payroll."

So yea- the Pong table project for example, is built by someone else. Whether you pay an employee, or hire another company to employ someone to build something with all the headaches that come along with that employment- I don't have a problem with that. Lower the risk, lower the stress.

I've said it before and I'll say it again- the Atari's numbers keep improving, the projects keep growing in volume and scope. It's a slow burn but the value will increase substantially.

I will agree that once they get a little further along they need to start moving towards new material and not just rehash the same old stuff but I am sure they are aware of that.

Stock is flat, financials are boosted because of outside loans, not revenues. Saying they're on their way up via downsizing makes about as much sense as booking a flight on Pan Am, another long-dead brand squeaking by with merchandising and licensing.

"Not dead yet" is not a compelling comeback plan.

You take tails, I'll take heads. Eventually we will both know the outcome. I've already said- I may be wrong but I don't think so.

Wasn't this suppose to be released by last Christmas? I know they took pre-orders a long time back.

From what I can tell- yes. I've only been 'in this' for the last year so trying to hit the ground running as far as all the info goes.

From what I have read they were released, and after initial responses pulled due to quality complaints. They claim to be better now. Also, they are releasing overseas mentioned to be because of licensing issues elsewhere. That may or may not be true.

I honestly think they try to roll things out to smaller (and less vocal) markets to see the results and then adjust from there. (see night driver, as well as other mobile releases in the last year).

Maybe I am more forgiving than many of you, but I can only imagine trying to deal with all the various projects, in all the different jurisdiction and laws, worldwide...

Well I still think they should have done a better job on the Ataribox. They claim to build an audience but have done a poor job of that. While I don't know if it will be successful Intellivision is going a much better route with their new system.

Also, Atari's last update with the board just proved how much their initial videos were misleading. The year late retro handheld does not bode well for showing Atari is going to deliver their box on time.

Why? Because I have a different opinion than yours? Because I like what Atari is doing and where they are going?

I was banned from the taco thread. For no reason. And if I am banned from here it will be for no good reason either.

But if I was to join the other sheep and wanted to talk trash about people, I would be accepted with open arms all day long.

Yup- that all makes perfect sense.

You incite people and you don't like other peoples opinions, that don't match with yours. You are the typical person, that usually gets pummeled on a forum, that is otherwise pretty peaceful. And now you turned this into a "PowerDubs" thread. Did the VW guys finally all ban you?

Disclaimer

The realization of these projects, their budget and their financing plan are inherently uncertain and the failure to realize any of these hypotheses could have a material impact on the value of the company’s shares.

With a press release like that who wouldn't expect to see great things for Christmas!

I like what Atari is doing and where they are going

I can understand that a person might be some sort of an armchair broker, who hopes that one day ASA stock will yield big returns on initial investments and follows their announcements with positive attitude. Not something I'd do or approve of, given their track record, but I can understand the logic here. After all, they are still scraping by somehow so hey, maybe one day a miracle will happen and they will strike that big time gold again.

However, in return, please try to understand that for some of us the issue is not that Atari SA is eking out a living, but the sad, depressing manner in which the formerly-iconic brand is doing it. The blurb I quoted above is a perfect example: Mr Chesnais is willing to whore out the logo/license just to about anybody, Kardashian reality show D-lister included. Online casinos, ridiculous projects such as the s-hats, very questionable projects such as Ataribox, lame devs butchering beloved licenses and so on and on. It really is quite gross and I don't care if they can scrape a quarterly 1.2 mil or somesuch profit for it (which is questionable if they do to start with). That's the other side of the coin here and no, I don't like what they're doing and where they're going.

With all of their bell ringing, I missed this little nugget buried in their press release...
