sirlynxalot Posted October 21, 2018 Share Posted October 21, 2018 I have an Atari Lynx 1 that I bought from best electronics a few years ago. It's always worked fine but I believe it is unmodified and still has the very old capacitors and zener diode in it. I understand it is pretty common for these parts to go bad over time, including permanently damaging the lynx, so I'd like to futureproof my lynx by paying someone to recap it and replace the diode. The only thing peculiar to my lynx is that best electronics filled in some of the screw holes with rubber cement to prevent people from taking the system apart and voiding their limited time period warranty. Let me know if you might be able to perform this service for me. I'm located in the USA and would prefer if the person is in the USA as well to avoid a potentially expensive shipping bill. blainelocklair Posted October 22, 2018 Share Posted October 22, 2018 Wow. Filling the holes with rubber cement was kind of a harsh thing. Check with -^Cro§Bow^- (Jesse) at Ivory Tower Collections. He's been at PRGE and off the grid this week, but should be back soon. He can cap Lynx systems and do the zener/MOSFET replacement. He installed my McWill screen, and it's absolutely gorgeous. My Lynx II was already capped and power modded, so I just got the McWill put in. Jesse can definitely do the cpas and power stuff, though, and I 100% recommend him for the quality of his work and his communication. Night and day difference.
