CMR
Does anyone know if RGB from an arcade machine is compatible with SCART RGB? I'm planning to build a super gun, but instead of using an encoder I just want to output RGB to my YUV component converter. Thanks.
mr_me
I think different arcade machines output video sync differently. E.g. composite sync vs seperate horizontal and vertical sync signals. You'd have to check if your converter can handle the sync signals the arcade machine is outputting.
CMR
It's just going to be a basic Jamma rig so all the sync's should be composite sync going by the Jamma pinout. I could always build an adapter for individual boards. I was also planning to put some trim pots on the RGB outputs. I'm now wondering if I should do the same thing with the sync signal. Austin
Yes, if it's just a JAMMA setup you should be fine. Now I'm not sure what the conversion process entails (if there even is one), but on my JAMMA cab I use a board that will split out a RGB signal via Euro SCART, which I then run to my scaler and capture card. It works fine, no issues: http://retroelectronik.com/en/accueil/149-pcb-advance-jamma-to-scart-rgb-adapter-retroelectronik.html (I'm not saying you need one of these, but more so to show you can tap into the RGB on a JAMMA setup.) Awesome, thanks! I'll probably just use a 9pin mini din and use the same pin configuration as a Genesis 2 since I already have a cable for that and scart cables are expensive. I'll post some pics when I get it up and running someday, overtime at work is eating into my "me" time. D:
