Try to reach someone at AtariMax with no luck

Hello All,

For two weeks now I tried to reach out to AtariMax to buy a Maxflash USB and and an 8mbit cart for my Atari 800.

I did not want to put my cc right into the pay system. I emailed them 4 times now trying to see if their are any options for PayPal.

I cannot get a response at all either way.

It’s a shame from what I can see it looks like a really great option for my Atari 800.

Does anyone know what’s going on with them or know another way to contact them as I would really love to get one these kits.

Or even someone else I could buy this from ?

Thanks you for any help in advance

Try not to make 2 threads re this and a quick search for Atarimax would show you that Steve Tucker / Classics of Atarimax is very hard to get hold of but does complete any purchases made..

Yep, not ideal in a buying world but its not like ordering from a huge company, its him alone that runs the whole deal and like many of us isn't getting younger in the day..

BUT to answer the paypal question which is different and asked by myself as well recently, well the main site says no, his other site says yes he takes it BUT we have it on good word that he's closed his paypal account so I'd say its just the options on the Atarimax site..ie no.

I'd love for Steve to answer emails, mine of weeks and weeks both remain unanswered which is not good from a sales POV...

Maybe someone who has had a purchase in the last month turn up can answer as a better reference (or not)

PS, Has anyone on here actually spoken to Steve about all the delays?

i would suggest you contact Corey @ 8-bit Classics (they accept paypal)

ask him:

■ if he can arrange purchase of whichever atarimax product you want, and

■ what the shipping time is.

FWIW - i recently bought an Atarimax item from 8-bit classics

and the following would give you an expectation of the kind of timeframes involved:

13-Nov: Purchase made via 8-bit classics

26-Nov: email from Corey advising shipping/tracking number BEFORE Dec 1st

07-Dec: I emailed Corey for update/tracking

07-Dec: reply from Corey saying he'd contact Atarimax

08-Dec: update - shipped Dec 8th

13-Dec: tracking states shipped 11 th Dec

I just ordered an SIO2PC-USB and an A-to-B USB cable from Steve through his AtariMax site on November 29. I received an immediate sales confirmation. After a week and not receiving any sort of of shipping notice, and seeing at least a couple of threads requesting information on delayed orders on the AtariMax forums, I emailed Steve to inquire about my order. As many others have noted, he's out of town a lot, and he was here too. He apologized and said he'd get my order out. I received shipping information a couple of days later. I received my order on December 12, so right at two weeks. Not great in this day of Amazon Prime two-day shipping, but not bad, and like Mclaneinc mentioned, he's a one-man show and has a life too.

If you order from his site, and you don't receive shipping information within two or three business days, I'd recommend touching base with him at classics@atarimax.com or atarimax@gmail.com.

Like others have said, he's not the quickest and communications seem to have to start on the customer's end, but he's honest, he makes great products, and you'll get your order... eventually.

Be aware that Steves emails will often end up in your junk email folder.

Steve is a hell of a guy. He only lives a couple of miles from me, and I have talked with him on the phone many times. Very honest person, and great to deal with. Without getting into his personal life, he did tell me (at the time) a new job takes more of his time than he had hoped. I got an SIO2PC, 2 5200 Carts, and 2 Colecovision carts from him. All are of excellent quality and work as expected. Do not let the lack of communications scare you. He is a class act and runs a first class operation. He will not take your money and not deliver.
