carlsson
Here's the summary for Week 09, running from February 25 - March 3. We logged 2038 minutes of eligible play, playing 39 games on a total of 13 systems.Top 10:1. Dr. Mario (NES/Famicom) - 599 min.2. Shanghai (Atari Lynx) - 223 min.3. Solar Fox (Atari 2600) - 159 min.4. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES) - 123 min.5. Asteroids (Atari 2600) - 122 min.6. Kaboom! (Atari 2600) - 114 min.7. Planet Smashers (Atari 7800) - 73 min.8. Satan's Hollow (Atari 8-bit) - 68 min.9. Final Fantasy (NES/Famicom) - 60 min.9. Snoopy and the Red Baron (Atari 2600) - 60 min.Pre-NES top 10:1. Solar Fox (Atari 2600) - 159 min.2. Asteroids (Atari 2600) - 122 min.3. Kaboom! (Atari 2600) - 114 min.4. Planet Smashers (Atari 7800) - 73 min.5. Satan's Hollow (Atari 8-bit) - 68 min.6. Snoopy and the Red Baron (Atari 2600) - 60 min.7. Jr. Pac-Man (Arcade) - 54 min.8. Eggomania (Atari 2600) - 34 min.9. Bank Heist (Atari 2600) - 30 min.10. Jungler (Arcade) - 27 min.Top 10 systems:1. NES/Famicom (674)2. Atari 2600 (568)3. Atari Lynx (245)4. SNES (123)5. Arcade (89)6. Atari 8-bit (87)7. Atari 7800 (73)8. TG-16/PC Engine (45)9. Game Boy (34)10. Game Boy Color (30)10. PC (DOS) (30)The doctor is in! Well, at least Dr. Mario is in with the #1 place in an unusually slow week - less than 34 hours of play time logged. While Shanghai is the most played Atari game this week, the pre-NES list is topped by Solar Fox, and in the end the NES/Famicom takes the system title thanks to Dr. Mario, Final Fantasy, Super Mario Bros and Kirby's Adventure.Shanghai (Atari Lynx) also becomes member #362 on the 1000 Minute Club with a total of 1033 minutes played so far. While I may not have mentioned it before, Final Fantasy (NES/Famicom) did join the 5000 Minute Club back in week 4 and Asteroids (Atari 2600) did in week 6. Actually I'll add a second trigger in my Excel sheet for that, since I think 5000 is the next big mark. Edit: By the way, the Modern tracker just set a new record with 9670 minutes. Since some post in both trackers, I suppose the slow week in classic gaming can partly be explained by the busy week in modern gaming. Actually a number like that would enter the top 10 list on the classic tracker as well, though nowhere near its record of 13011 minutes in 2015. blainelocklair
Played Snoopy and the Red Baron for 2600 yesterday for 435 minutes (7h, 15min). Yes, really. Went for the Twin Galaxies world record score, currently at 150,200. Scored 155,500, shot down 708 Red Barons in the process. Score will be submitted today and is pending verification. Had to break the 7h 18min video into 1hr segments to fit on their site. Uploading today.

karokoenig
Atari 2600 Bank Heist: 8 min Centipede: 1 min Gangster Alley: 10 min Millipede: 2 min Missile Command: 12 min Outlaw: 4 min Star Wars – Jedi Arena: 3 min Super Breakout: 35 min A little more above detection limit this time. I played Missile Command, Centipede and Millipede to test the trackball controller I scored in an ebay lot recently. Predictably, it doesn't work all that well, even if it works. Mine has one direction broken. It seems like one of the magnetic clicky switches triggered by the rotating magnets is kaput. The longer playtime for Missile Command is a result of me plugging in the Joystick after testing the trackball and playing a decent round just for fun. Most played: Super Breakout for the current Paddle Weeks in the HSC. We are playing Game 7, which I love. Here's hoping that I find some more time to play. I am still around 300 points short of my previous highscore for that game variant.

+cvga
We haven't had time to get back to this until last night. Session 7 consisted of trying to figure out where we left off last time lol. After that, we purchased new spells such as the ability to exit a dungeon and more powerful cure and lightning spells. That, along with some other purchases, nearly exhausted our funds, which were closing in on 200,000 gold so we spent some time in the desert battling to earn enough cash to buy the bottle at the Oasis. We didn't quite earn enough before calling it a night. NES: Final Fantasy - 60 minutes In today's 8th session of Final Fantasy, we battled enough to earn the gold to purchase the bottle at the Oasis, found the fairy who gave us the OXYALE needed to pilot the submarine and obtained our 3rd orb by defeating the WaterFiend. One more orb to go! NES: Final Fantasy - 105 minutes

Skippy B. Coyote
I really wanted to do my usual picture and writeup today since I've got some gaming stuff that I'm pretty excited to talk about, mainly how much I adore the 8BitDo SN30 Pro controller I got this past week. It's the single best controller I've ever used in my entire life and even tops the original GameCube controller and official 6-button Genesis controller on my list of all time favorite controllers, but unfortunately my stomach problems have been flaring up again today so I haven't been feeling up to doing much writing or picture taking. That'll have to wait until either later in the week when I'm feeling better or next week, so for now here's my household's gaming times for the week so at least I won't be holding up Carlsson from doing the weekly statistics: Ineligible (All Nintendo Switch)DOOM - 1,035 minutesSonic Mania Plus - 675 minutesTetris 99 - 5 minutesPlayStationDoom - 185 minutesQuake II - 7 minutesTotal Video Game Play Time This Week1,907 minutes (31 hours 47 minutes) [192 minutes eligible]Individual System Play Times This WeekNintendo Switch: 1,715 minutesPlayStation: 192 minutes

TI-99/4A (30)This week the battle for the title is between Shanghai and Snoopy... well, I suppose a Red Baron is involved somewhere too. The pre-NES list is entirely Atari, though divided between 2600, 8-bit/XEGS and 7800. Finally the systems list doesn't quite reach 10 systems this week but unlike my predecessor I post the full list anyway. We have two new entries to the 1000 Minute Club in form of #363 Snoopy and the Red Baron (Atari 2600) with 1058 minutes and #364 Dr. Mario (NES/Famicom) with 1093 minutes.
blainelocklair
Excellent work! If the vid is 7:15, didn't you play it even more while practicing? Thank you! I did play it for an hour last week. That time was recorded on the prior week's summary. I had played it many times in my childhood, and it came right back to me. I just figured that if I could play for an hour and not run out of lives that I could play for as long as it might take to get the top score. It took me forever, it felt like. The player with the previous (current) high score did 150,200 in around 4.5 hours. I took a few quick breaks along the way, but with the exception of a few quick bathroom breaks, a five minute bowl of Cheerios, and some one minute stretch breaks, I played that one game the rest of the time. He is better at this game than I am. I just happened to sit in front of the camera and play longer. If he goes back and plays it again, I'll get creamed. That's the way it should be. The best player deserves to fight back and take the title back. Here's the video, just in case there's nothing on Netflix and you're a glutton for punishment. https://www.twingalaxies.com/showthread.php/200786-Atari-2600-VCS-Snoopy-vs-The-Red-Baron-NTSC-Pilot-First-Class-(Points)-155-500
