FND
Hello all, Just started Organizing my Genesis Collection that I collected in the wildover the years starting in 1991 ( noted by some of the Receipts that were still with the games). Started sorting/combining and Grading at the start of Febuary, ended up with 970 items thatinclude CIB, LOOSE, GAME SYSTEM, CDXs, CDs 1 & 2s, Xeye, Controllers, Store Displays .... Ect.. I used a price charging data base that is updated in real time using EBAY/AMAZON and other sitessell amounts, Shipping is not included in the values. When I finished on MARCH 5th the total estimated value was 17,503.00 (and some change)Checked back at the END of 1 month APRIL 5th and see a increase to 18.596.00 Anyway Looking at the past month I SEE A obvious increase in COLLECTOR INTEREST.1000.00 dollar increase in value over 1 month on 18,000 is very very big. Looking forwardto watching the results over time. This may be the time to get those hard to get games before we are all priced out BTW There was a time (late 80's early 90's) when a number of THRIFT STORES would send mearound back to the dumpster since that's were they would end-up (they could not sell them).I offered FREE PIZZA if they would save it all for me and had a number of stops on a monthly basis. Razzie.P
Price of milk went up, too. Sad, sad times. Kidding aside, seems to be the case with every classic game/console I try to find, these days. 2 years ago, I was looking at buying the GF a very nice Atari 7800 for 30 bucks at a local retro game store. She decided she didn't want it. When she changed her mind a few months ago, there didn't seem to be any chance at finding one for that price anymore. Now, going though the same thing trying to find a N64 console.

I was just surprised to see a 5.55% INCREASE in 1 month, Thats a big jump
derFunkenstein
The price of functioning Sega CD units is way up over the last couple of months. I wonder if it's because the Mega Sg supports the unit?

Skippy B. Coyote
Jeebus criminey! Just looking at your collection is making me sweat a little! I'm still in the process of trying to acquire all the more pricey Genesis games I'd like for my own collection and I've got about two dozen that are in the $30+ range left to go. Hopefully I can snag them all before prices go completely bonkers. My big goal right now though is acquiring a nice condition and properly working Sega CD Model 2 and 32X for a reasonable price (around $225 for both with all the bits included) and that's proving more than a little challenging. I think it's the combination of the recently released Sega Genesis Classics collection on current generation consoles, the Mega SG, and the recently announced Sega Genesis Classic Mini system causing renewed public interest in the Genesis and the corresponding price surges.
FND
Thing is I never collected the Genesis back In the day I was looking for Pre Nintendo so was a bit surprised when I startedorganizing it all. Not sure what is driving the recent upsurge but expect it may have a little to do with the age of the original Genesis gamers,They are now hitting the age they can afford to spend a little more.on there toys
Flojomojo
We are at Peak Genesis right now. There's ... 1. Sega Genesis collection on Switch 2. All the fancy M2 Sega Ages games on Switch 3. Sega Forever on mobile, which has been exhuming some delisted titles like Afterburner Climax 4. The AtGames Sega portable, which never left stores 5. The upcoming Sega Genesis Mini Classic with emulation by M2, which should be like the Sega Genesis Flashback, but better 6. Clone Genesis consoles 7. Mega Sg FPGA console 8. Polymega console coming sometime and all this is in addition to existing collections and remakes out there. I would pin the rise in Sega Cd hardware directly on the recent release of Analogue's Mega Sg. Sega has been doing s good job of keeping their stuff alive in the marketplace. Ain't no Sega like old classic Sega.
