SoundGammon
I just won these rapid fire units on E-bay that we use to install in arcade games back in the day. I plan to put 2 of these into my 2-port 5200 and interface them between the controller jacks and the GTIA chip. I can put in a bypass switch for normal firing. Should be great for a lot of games! Defender & Centipede for starters!

BigO
Is rapid/auto fire a big attraction for people? I'm considering building it into a 2600 controller but I never have really used it.
Shawn
A 555 timer would make for a much easier implementation on any controller.

The 5200 controller only uses 14 pins or wires to the controller, so no 5 volt supply! Also, It'll work with the trak-ball too!

Getting a db15 cord to replace the original would make it much more of a pain to build, I agree.
Lynxpro
All I remember from arcade cab mods was the "Zoom" button that seemed to be added to a ridiculous number of Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man arcade machines in the Sacramento market back in the day... And I swear it was a lot faster than the turbo options that Tengen later coded directly into their Sega Genesis version of Ms. Pac-Man. Like the top speed of KITT in "Super Pursuit Mode" on the later seasons of Knight Rider...
