The Eidolon
Just got my Atari 800 (not XL) in the mail yesterday from Video 61! Now to restart my cartridge collection. In spite of all the fond memories of classic Atari systems I have, (2600, 5200, 1200XL, 1040ST: what a big Atari nerd I was!) I haven't been able to play anything on a real system until now. Wish me luck! --The Eidolon P.S. In an updated version of the paradox of the unstoppable force versus the immoveable object (in this case, the force is admirably represented by my almost 2-year-old daughter and the object by the Atari 800 with its tank-like construction) who do you think will win? oesii
Good job, my original 800 lasted about 4 years of abuse, I got it when I was 10 But then again when it died it gave me a reason to try the 800XL and 130XE. If you want a really complete 8bit experience check out the sio2pc cable: http://www.atariage.com/store/product_info...products_id=
Nukey Shay
My current machine...13 years of kids, etc. so far. Bought it from some divorced dude (who bought it new a decade earlier)...so who knows what it went through.
The Eidolon
Well, I hooked the 800 up and enjoyed a rip-roaring game of: Atari Basic! Hmmm... I need to go buy some more games. Thanks for the info on the sio2pc cable. I did a quick skim of the docs and it doesn't appear to be Mac compatible. (or did I miss something?) But very interesting nonetheless. Thanks, --The Eidolon
