XEGS programming a lost art?

If your serious about programming in assembly language for the XEGS (or any XL/XE/800 Atari computer) get yourself a copy of 'Atari Roots' by Mark Andrews and 'Assembly Language Programming for the Atari Computers' by Mark Chasin. These are the best books on the subject. Don't waste your time on any other Atari specific Assembly language books. The rest of them stink badly. The best general book on assembly language is Compute's 'Machine Language for Beginners'. Get yourself a copy of the Mac/65 cartridge by OSS as well. Once you've learned everything from the above books, you're best bet is to study 'Atari Graphics and Arcade Game Design' at http://www.atariarchives.org/agagd/ as well as studying all the assembly language listings in Antic and Analog. http://www.atarimagazines.com/ http://www.cyberroach.com/analog/

Compute's First book of Atari Graphics should soon be online at http://www.atariarchives.org/ and will also help. Oh yes, also read De Re Atari online at
