BBS Software?

Does anyone have any BBS software lying around other than AE Pro? I'm actually interested in collecting/preserving older BBS programs, including the many homebrew hacks written during the 80's. The problem is, most of that type of software seems to be either long gone or sitting in someones closet site unseen. It seems it's just games that are making the transition to disk images.

Hi Marty,

If you have Carina I and Carina II, I'm very interested in obtaining copies of them as I used to run a BBS, first on Carina I and later II. I believe I still have the original manuals for both of them, which I'd be willing to scan if you're interested (my name's even in the second manual.. ) I'm also interested in any hacks you've found, as I had created quite a few, especially for Carina II. And a friend and I wrote RoboWar II, which is a game for Carina II.

Sadly, I no longer have any of my original Carina disks, or any of the hacks I created. Those were all on the hard drives I sold when I unloaded all of my 8-bit hardware to save money for college back in 1988.

I have Carina in both .atr and .dcm format, let me know the best way to get it to you. And yes, I'd love copies of the manuals.

As far as home made bbs's and such, I don't have anything. It's very hard to track this stuff down. They've either been thrown out or are sitting in a closet somewhere. Or in the case of a lot of the BBS's I used to be on, were confiscated by the government.

Okay, I'll make an effort to scan the manuals sometime this week, although I may not get to them until the weekend. I first need to find the box they're buried in (I just recently moved). If you want to email me the .ATR files that will work for me, my email address is albert@atariage.com .

I got a nice chuckle out of your last line, there.

Well, I dusted off my 1050 and booted up the APX BBCS disks. I have one double sided disk with BBCS documents on it and another with the BBCS software it self. I'll try to make images of the four sides this week.

I am also going to check with Kevin who has the Antic and APX sites if he wants the diskettes.

I used to run a BBS back in 1985-1987 on my Atari 8-bit. I went through all my atari 8-bit stuff which I had in storage and found the following disks:

BBS Express (850 version 1.0) w/ serial #

FoReM XE (requires BASIC XE cartridge which I no longer have)

Bulletin Board Construction Set ver 2.2 (2 double sided disks)

Nite Lite Bulletin Board System (by Paul Swanson of Billerica, MA) with serial #. This was for the Atari 1030 modem and I still have the ring detector module he included with it). I believe I have the printed documentation with this as well but I have not found it as of yet.

Supreme BBS (by Futute Systems Software)

I don't remember a whole lot about this one but I am pretty sure it is a modified AMIS BBS.

Advanced AMIS 1200

MPP Forem BBS for the Supra / MPP modems

Carina (I believe I have the documentation for this but hae not located it as of yet)

please let me know if you are interested in any of these. I am interested in selling these as I am no longer using them.

I contacted Kevin Savetz who put up the Digital Antic Project as well as the APX Archive sites. I'm going to donate my APX Classics By Antic - Bulletin Board Contstruction Set 2.2 floppies to him. I guess he will put them in the APX archives but we can atleast get the .atr files from him. If you haven't been to his sites, check them out -
