Anyone know anything about this game? I know it's one of those unreleased prototype games that has been on the various lists since forever, but all the sudden it started appearing on some rom sites. Unfortunately its a .COM file and I have no idea how to run it.

What is the game like? Who dumped it? Where the F did it come from? I've very curious about all of this.

Sorry, I don't know anything about either (love to try it) but if your using Atari800 emulator you can run it directly with the Load Executable File option under the Media menu. A very cool feature.

Heck, with Atari800Win+ just drag it into the emulator window.

I have it as RX8037. The game seems to be finished.

What do you mean? It's been floating around for ages. Almost everybody with a disk drive has this game (I'm pretty sure I got it in 1984 or so). FYI, there are still HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of tape and disk games that need to be "dumped".

Well I never noticed it until about a year or so ago. How come Atari never released it?

This story is from an old NG posting from an Atari programmer.

Landon Dyer:

"this project went about nine months before it was cancelled; it's

possible that some development cartridges leaked [the lab where EPROMs

were burned was one of the leakiest parts of the company]. marketing

wanted a game that "didn't involve shooting." the game was designed

by committee, a spec was thrown at a programmer, and the result was

basically (and predictably) a disaster."
