Ze_ro
Wow, the Lynx board is dead... seems I'm the only one starting new topics. Oh well, for the other 2 people reading this board, here's my question: While looking through the Lynx faq, it says that screen scratches can be fixed using a "plexiglass scratch remover" or somesuch (Is this like a spray or something? I haven't actually tried looking for it yet). Does this actually work? This is the first I've heard of fixing screen scratches (on any system) without replacing the screen altogether. I bought my Lynx off eBay, and though the screen is in good condition, there are a few small scratches I wouldn't mind getting rid of (and once they're gone, I'll be sticking one of those screen shields/sun visors and gluing it to the system... well, maybe not glue ). I also wouldn't mind cleaning up my old Gameboy, as it's a sorry site after about 15 years of use. I tried searching around the Gameboy scene to see if anyone had tried this, but since Nintendo sells replacement screens for $4, it looks like no one has bothered to try anything else. --Zero
Gunstar
I'm not positive, but I think it's more along the lines of a apply, let dry and buff type of product, I know there is something similair for TV&monitor screens as well, my brother 36" tv got a pretty deep scratch in it by a careless person, and he used the stuff to repair it. If you look really close, you can see where it was, but it looks 99% better than before it was repaired, looks perfect from a normal viewing distance. Ze_ro
Hmm... I'll have to give it a shot. I'll try it on my Gameboy first, as it's nowhere near as important as the Lynx All that remains is to actually find some of this scratch remover stuff..... --Zero
liquid_sky
We have a craft store around here, I called them, i figured alot of plexiglass is in crafts and stuff, they sell it for like 8 dollars a tube. It is apply buff and let dry.. along the lines of cd scratch remover. I have used turtle wax to fix cd scratches and it works great you cant see any of them, I wonder if it would also work on a screen?

Once I bought this cd repair kit that came with some lint-free cloths and this itsy-bitsy tube of white goop, I thought to myself, gee, this sure smells and looks like Turtle wax...I'm paying 12 bucks a kit for this? Well, needless to say I use Turtle wax now too...the bottle will last me the rest of my life if I only use it for discs, and there are plenty of soft cloths laying around, like, say, an old sock... Chuck Gill
I have had great success with a product called Meguiar's Mirror Glaze 17 Professional Plastic Polish. It is made for removing scratches from car speedometer lenses and those plastic convertable rear windows. I have used it on my Lynx and a some other handheld games. It should be available wherever they detail cars. -Chuck
TunnelRunner
Best Electronics carries the replacement part, I believe. Try them.
