analmux
I'm living with this question for a long time. Who wrote the title screen music of the game 'rescue on fractalus' ? Is it a classical composer or a member of the programming team? The tune reminds me a lot of a classical tune you often hear in tv programs about wars. ----- mux

devwebcl
When a player crashes into one of these scenes, the game sounds a dirge. if a player completes a level, he or she receives a musical fanfare. The music for Rescue was composed primarily by Charlie Kellner, whose programming accomplishments include the Alpha Syntauri sound synthesizer. "Most of the time, I knew what I wanted to make it sound like. It was a matter of finding the right combination of sound effects with the machine (the Atari sound registers)," said Kellner, who brought to the group four and a half years experience with Apple computers and the 6502 processor, the same processor at the heart of the Atari. more info at: http://www.atarimagazines.com/v3n4/lucasfilm.html devwebcl
Bryan
It sounds a lot like "Ride of the Valkyries" by Wagner. -Bry rotv_midi.zip

emkay
bryde... it sounds like a synapse game... isn't it? but you could be right... hve As bryede mentioned: It sounds a lot like ROTV in German "Ritt der Walküre" ... so he IS right But... as it is only similar sounding... it is a different melody
emkay
After comparing "ear by ear" I would say the melody IS the same. You only have problems to identify it because it is heavy out of tune...
analmux
As bryede mentioned: It sounds a lot like ROTV in German "Ritt der Walküre" ... so he IS right But... as it is only similar sounding... it is a different melody Yup, that is exactly the classical piece of music I ment. Everytime I hear the Rescue tune I have an association with this piece, so it's no coincidence. The melody is indeed almost the same, but the rhythm scheme is different. But it sure was the inspiration for Charlie Kellner, or we can say that he stole the tune Thanks all, for helping me out. ----- mux

Heaven/TQA
yup... i hated c64 but around 1988 my friend & i destroyed 2 c64 playing hatrick & international karate over weeks.... and when he lost 9:10 playing about nearly 1 year every week (tournament, who wins 10 times 1st got 1 point) he jumped on the c64 and got broke the c64 complete into pieces... the 2nd one lost many keys of the keyboard by throwing competition pro's joysticks directly on the "return" "L" "*" and "shift" keys... so the most important ones... hahahahha that were times and we weren't teenagers at that time anymore... so as it is ebay time i pay for this sin... and get one "lost soul" home... next are my lost snes modules... hve
