Gunstar
If your asking just out of curiosity, then I can't help you (since I've nothing to do at all with it), but if your leading to inquiries of where to find development tools galore (from what I understand much more than Atari licensed developers had back in the day), a good place to start is; http://www.atari-jaguar64.de
Ze_ro
So... uh.. what is this game anyways? From the description, I was thinking it would be something along the lines of Battlesphere or Wing Commander, but the screen shots make it look more like Galaga or Galaxian. Anyone have a description of the gameplay? --Zero
Gunstar
I think it's more like Raiden or one of those 2d shooters on the Dreamcast.
Gunstar
i can see why you figured galaga though, since both screen shots have the same background...maybe your right, but the description leans my way...
Albert
I agree, it looks very much like a scrolling, vertical shooter. It's hard to tell without seeing a few more pictures. I just sent the developers some questions as well as a link to this thread. Hopefully we'll have more information soon. ..Al
Starcat
Hi Everybody ! Nice to see that there is interested in my game. :-) I'm trying to answer all the question about it in this message, if you have more questions please e-mail me at: starcat@atari-jaguar64.de 1. The complete game development is done in assembler. The 68k is used for game logic and some smaller tasks, while GPU does all the more performance consuming tasks like building the object lists, decompressing data etc. The DSP is used for Sound and Music. 2. I'm using the MADMAC to compile the code, ALN to link it to a binary and WDB to debug and test it. These are some of the official Atari tools. I also use the Atari graphics converting tools to convert .bmp images into .rgb files for the Jag. I use ICE compression to compres the .rgb graphics. 3. I'm not sure about the format yet. But I hope to do it for CD. 4. The game is a 2D space shooter. With some static and also some scrolling backgrounds depending on the level. I hope all your questions have been answered. Regards, Lars.
