+davidcalgary29
I note that my 1987 copy of "Millipede" is packaged in an XEGS-sized (small) version of the 1984 large box. Can anyone advise if they have other, similar "small" boxes of silver-labelled games?
Randy California
I think Pole Position would... qualify BTW, does Pengo exist in the big box format? Also wondering if there's a color version of the small box. I have never seen anything else than black and white versions ++ RC ++
bjk7382
I have galaxian, big box, brown case. And then Moon Patrol is in a small silver box with a silver label, grey case.

+davidcalgary29
Yes, Thimo sold me my small-box copy of "Millipede".
deathtrappomegranate
I have had two "small box" "Caverns of Mars"...one of them contained a grey XE-style cart with a silver label, as reported in another thread. The other remains shrinkwrapped. They were acquired from different sources.
Curt Vendel
Most of the Large Silverboxed XL games were later made into the smaller Silver (and in some cases Grey/Black) boxes... Also this is the case for some of the 400/800 boxed games, I have a small Galaxian 400/800 and even a Galaxian 400/800 in a grey/black box. Its rather odd how Atari returned back to the larger boxes when they started to do the XL releases and then went back to the smaller boxes again. Then add into this, the application boxes which were thicker, were also in the middle of the large and small game boxes... very wasteful... they should've standardized. deathtrappomegranate
I always thought that the grey case/silver label versions of the older titles were just a way of mopping up their overproduction of XE stock. Atari management at this stage was just thrashing about aimlessly.
Callipygous
Sounds like a another little survey coming up. Here is what I have. Note the weird monochrome PENGO box. Any others?
deathtrappomegranate
I have Caverns of Mars Eastern Front 1941 RS Football Moon Patrol Pac-Man in this format.
+davidcalgary29
"Joust" must surely come in this format as well, as the cart that I purchased from kheffington is in the now-familiar grey label / rounded XEGS cart style. +davidcalgary29
And with this auction, I suppose that we can add (somewhat surprisingly), "Super Breakout" and "Defender" to the mix. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=39999
Callipygous
Hmm Those are small black boxes.
deathtrappomegranate
I also have Millipede in this format (well, I have the box...I have a few Millipede carts, but I don't know what form of cart was originally in that box).
Callipygous
Okay, I thought we were only looking for SSB (small silver boxes). The small black ones were issued both early (1980) and late (XE 1987 ?). I'll try to start a thread and maybe we can cover all Atari game boxes. There are BBB (big black), SBB (small black), MSB(Medium silver), SSB(Small Silver) and XEB (XE blue).

deathtrappomegranate
OK, a bit of clarity would help.
+davidcalgary29
And then, of course, there are the oddballs like "Track and Field" (and "Robotron" too?) that came in non-standard packages because of extra controllers, etc. How should we classify them? deathtrappomegranate
Looking back through the thread (and it may now be a little premature) but, I've never seen a color (picture) Pengo box... I don't actually have any Pengo boxes at present, but I have had at least four, and all have been monochrome. That is a little strange.
