Mountain King
I might be wrong about this, but weren't there supposed to be 5 games. I remember reading in Atari Age that after Air World there was supposed to be a final challenge to win the Sword. Now I'm not sure if they meant another game or just use the existing clues to solve the last puzzle. Now if I were a big ol' comapany trying to make money, I'd make a final game. Tempest
No it wasn't a fifth game, it was a big final contest that Atari was going to have for all the winners of the previous contests. I'm not sure what the contest entailed but it was probably some sort of marathon session of all the games (special contest versions). Scott Stilphen might know more about this, he just did a bunch of research on the series. Tempest
Wntermute
From the interview with the Fireworld winner, he indicated there was a "tournament" version of Fireworld .. so there are probably "tournament" versions of at least Earthworld and Fireworld.. possibly also Waterworld... So, technically, there can be up to 6 SwordQuest games (so far).
Tempest
Rumor has it that the PAL versions of Fireworld and Earthworld are really the constest versions. They're much easier (less items required in each room) and the solution is different. But until we actually find a contest version it's just a guess. Scott Stilphen
I'm 99% sure the PAL versions are the same as the tournament versions (there was no PAL Waterworld). From what little info I found, the final contest was to involve the winner from each game in a playoff with all 4 tournament versions. I haven't found any info to suggest that Atari was going to have a special game made for the last contest (but if would have made more sense if they did. If someone had won more than 1 of the contests, that would have given them a distinct advantage over the others.) Btw, my article can be found at the 2600 Connection site.
