Goochman
I never played Mr. Do! at the arcades but when I cranked this up on my 130XE a few years ago I couldnt believe how great the game and conversion was. The colors and gameplay are almost spot on. The programmer even provided left and right joystick settings! Its too bad we didnt see other such efforts on the Atari way back. Anyone know how the programmer was able to get some many colors and objects running at the same time?
Shannon
It is a wonderful translation and also shows just what a great game (design wise) Mr. Do really is. There are actually three different ways to complete a level.

There are actually three different ways to complete a level. Or maybe even four: 1. Collect all the cherries; 2. Drop apples on all of the Alpha Monsters; 3. Spell "EXTRA"; 4. Get the jewel (diamond?) that appears as a bonus on some levels.
bjk7382
I haven't seen the diamond yet Anyone know how to get it?
+davidcalgary29
I've seen the diamond appear anywhere from level 3 up to level 11, but it appears very infrequently, and is available for only a very limited time. I'm not sure if it's triggered by winning an extra life, but I do tend to spot it only in about half of the games that I play.

I personally think that most of DataSoft's arcade conversions were pretty fantastic, although I'll always have a soft spot for Mr. Do!. I heartily encourage anyone interested in DataSoft's efforts to purchase the "DataSoft multicart", which has several superior efforts on it, including the excellent "Pac-Man" port. I have this multicart and it is full of great games. I like Nibbler quite a bit too.

Mendon
Been awhile since I played Mr. Do but I believe the diamond appears randomly when you drop a fruit to the bottom of the screen. The higher the fruit is when you drop it, the better chance you have that it will turn into a diamond when it splats, but nothing guarantees that a dimond will appear. This is my recollection; please correct me if I'm wrong. Mendon
