Ze_ro
Okay, I'm sure anyone who has a huge collection has heard this question pretty often. I know I get asked this all the time, and I guess it's a valid question. I mean, with hundreds of cartridges, when would I have time to play them all, and wouldn't there be some stinkers in there that I would never play? So what do you guys think? Do you actually play all your cartridges, or do you just keep 'em packed away or something? In general, I do play all my cartridges. Obviously, I'll play Moon Patrol more often than E.T... and I rarely play my Intellivision games. But each of my games gets played eventually, and I usually play video games at least once or twice a day. Most recently I've been playing my Lynx stuff, and some Genesis stuff most often. --Zero
The hero
I like to sit down with a nice cold beer, turn on the Atari 2600 and play Chase. I like to sit there for hours and hours just running into the wall. What a gas man!!
Gunstar
Sooner or later, most of my games get some play time. Yes,there are a few games on each of my systems that just suck and never get played and I have only held onto them for collector's purposes. Also, I never play any of the old sports games on a system, Superfootball on my 2600 (7800 actually), will never get played again, because I have games like NFL2K1 on the Dreamcast. Sports games just don't hold up well over time like other classic games. I can put up with the simple graphics of Starmaster after owning WingCommander or Battlesphere, but the sports titles just aren't any fun anymore, even for nostalgic purposes... Joel D. Park
I've played ever game I own at one time or another.. But very few actually get much replay.. Cosmic Ark, Cosmic Commuter, Demon Attack, Frogger, Adventure, Kaboom, Yar's Revenge, Video Pinball, Keystone Kapers, H.E.R.O.... Come to mind right now.. Most games take a back seat. h.e.r.o
I never play my Journey Escape game, that's for sure. I will say that I tend to play Chopper Command a little more than H.E.R.O. right now, which I play a little more than Pitfall. Most of my games are pretty fun, though. The hero
Superman, Adventure, Raiders of the Lost Ark. Pitfall is okay as well. In the ole days I could play ANY game and have fun. But nowadays there are only a handful of the Atari games that can keep me semi-interested for more than about 5 minutes. Its amazing just how boring some of those old Atari 2600 games are now. Joel D. Park
Here's the difference between now and back in the day... When I used to play back in the day, I used to always think there was more to the game than there really was. I was always exploring and looking for more games or secret places. Now days, I kind of know the limits an Atari game has and there is alot less exploring.. So if I still play a game today, it must actually be fun and not just "Unexplored". I wonder if that even makes sense. Later, Joel D. Park

I can agree with this with only one exception.... TECMO BOWL!!! I know it isn't Atari, but I *still* play this one
Hakogame 箱亀
Joel, I believe you're refering to what I call the "imagination factor" It's something the classics usually had. I believe it's caused by the simple graphics, which force you to use your imagination, which , for most people, is often easier to do when you're younger. This causes you to imagine or hope to some degree that a game contains more than it actually does, thus making it more fun.
Skatepunk60
I know how "boring" some atari games can be alone but with others there awesome if you play an atari game w/ a friend you dont need graphics or stuff you useing what you got to beat the hell outta your friends and for the sports games i dont really play any sports anymore bsides skateboard but i still love those i love whoppin my friends asses in the game even if it dont really look like the sport. Ze_ro
I'm glad to hear that everyone still plays their games. I'd hate to think we're amung the ranks of comic book collectors who seal their collections in vaults out of fear of them being damaged Of course, that's not to say that I don't try to keep my stuff in good condition, but I'm not going to leave my Jaguar in it's box or something stupid like that (Maybe if I had two Jaguars) --Zero
bcprs1
I still can play Jr Pac-Man for hours. I agree that a lot of games are not fun anymore. I can remember playing some games for hours hoping for some kind of an ending. P.S. I still love Tecmo Super Bowl for Nintendo. We are into our 8th season at work. Hakogame 箱亀
On a similar note, I was positive, and even half believe it still, that when I was about 8 I finished pole position and saw a checkered flag, and someone came out and gave me a trophy. But I've never done this since, and may have actually dreamed it.
Nateo
Hmmm... Raccoon Lad, if you are talking about Pole Position for the 2600, I've beat the game a couple times, and there was no checkered flag or a guy with a trophy. Maybe you were dreaming. All it does is count up some bonus points and play that fanfare tune.
Ze_ro
quote: Originally posted by Raccoon Lad: may have actually dreamed it. I had a dream once where I had a SNES (This was back when I didn't have one, but it was only about a year ago), and then later in the day (long after I had woken up), I thought to myself "Hey! I'm gonna go play SNES!" and was really excited until I realized I didn't have one. I felt really stupid I'm not even sure which game I was psyched about (I've always *loved* Super Mario World) Funny though... now that I have a SNES, I only have 4 games for it, and there's only about 2 more that I really want. That's pretty bad, since almost all my other systems have at least 20 games or so. --Zero
ATARIPITBULL
I have a pretty nice collection of games, not as big as some, but still pretty good, but of all the games I have, I would say that I play Raiders of the lost Ark, Pitfall, Adventure, Donkey Kong and Pac-man at least once a week, if not more, and I have a full time job, a wife and three kids, lets see if some of you can do that.
