MOUNTAIN KING MADNESS

Did any of you guys ever make it to "the heavens" on Mountain King? I remember making the guy jump around on the top of the mountain and when he hit a certain spot, he would do a super-jump up into the air until he came to another set of levels & ladders. I never knew if this was a "bonus" or if it was simply an error. Can somebody help me out?

My guess is that this area is a bug in the game. If it was on purpose, I would imagine that CBS would have made sure the ladders didn't appear and disappear the way they do. I've also never found anything useful up there... it was mostly just for the hell of it. It's also worth pointing out that apparently this area doesn't exist on some emulators.

According to Ed Salvo, the guy who ported the 2600 version, the whole "hidden kingdom" was intentional, but he couldn't remember why. I didn't think to ask if the glitching was intentional, but I kind of suspect it wasn't. Perhaps it was an easter egg that wasn't quite ready for release, but the cart had to be released?

I agree - it has to be intentional. What are the odds the only path for that super jump would lead right to the entrance to it?
