vb_master
I got a 600 XL for $10 today, and the people I bought it from said it worked. I plug it in, start it up, and initiate the self-tests. The keyboard test did not respond to any of the keypresses, except B, which constantly repeted itself, even though it was not pressed in. I took it apart, and I noticed that the keyboard cable looked bunrt, and I gave it a thorugh inspection, and I put it back together. I initiated the self tests again, and the option key got stuck in, along with the B constantly repeting itself. I gave up. What could I do to fix the sticky option key that was not stuck before? Is there anything I can do to fix the burnt keyboard problem? Is this junk???!!!

vb_master
Actually, I bought it for $10. I managed to get most of the key's working, except 4, 9, Break, R, O, Control, F, L, Shift (Left), V, [, Shift (Right). The mainboard is perfectly fine, but I'm not able to use those buttons due to the burnt wireing. Is there a way I can adapt a standard PS/2 Keyboard for use with it? vb_master
Both are the same link. I would scan a picture of the plastic (I don't want to take it apart again), it looks like a match came up and roasted the contacts, and they look all black, but certain traces only have that, escecally over the keys I have listed. I've been thinking about using that CircuitWriter pen to trace over the lines and contacts that have been burnt to try to reconnect them. I could scratch off all the burnt traces, and write over them with the pen. But... which CircuitWriter pen to get? CircuitWriter™ Pen or... ProGold™ Connector Enhancer Pen It's worth a try. vb_master
Report: I messed up the keyboard with the CricuitWriter pen. I have a Dreamcast keyboard that has a simular design. Do you think it's possible to rid of the encoder board of the Dreamcast keyboard, and just pop the keyboard section in? The keyboard is on plastic, and detachable from the encoder board, which I think would make a good replacement keyboard. Suggestions? No stop don't do it's? I wouldn't place any bets that the key matrix is the same. It MAY work right, but it's not very likely.
A2600
VB? What did you end up doing? I would recommend the adapter for a PS/2 keyboard and just cut the keyboard case and insert the keyboard into the 600XL case
vb_master
Nothing, it's just sitting here. So, is there an easy DIY PS/2 adapter for this, or do I need a PIC?
