+davidcalgary29
I note that the instruction manual for the MS-DOS version of this popular title makes specific mention of "the Atari 8-bit version" in its manual, yet I don't think that I ever saw this one in stores. Was an A8 version ever released?
oesii
I don't think it was released for the 8bits. It came out at the time a lot of companies were shifting from the Atari 8bits/C64 to the ST's and Amigas. If you saw it listed as for the 8bit my guess would be that they changed it to the ST before it was released. I just finished reading four years of STart mags (had some time ) and this happenned quite a few times.

That's a reasonable assumption, but the manual makes mention of a version for the Atari ST, as well. The manual does, in fact, separate functions and features of "Mavis Beacon" into the 8-bit computers ("Atari 8-bit", "C64", "Apple IIGS") and everything else. Since the manual lists a function specific to the A8 machines, it's certainly possible that an A8 version was ported, but never released. Is Software Toolworks still around? Hmm... Dr. Van Thorp
I thought that Mavis Beacon was a revised version of an earlier program called "Typing Tutor", which was available on many 8-bit machines.
