Zerosquare
All coils do make noise: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetically_excited_acoustic_noise_and_vibration But it can be reduced by damping vibrations.

RARusk
Guess that answers my question. So, barring finding the right caps, what would be the best material to put on a coil to stop or greatly reduce noise without reducing its functionality? I've heard glue or hot glue but maybe there might be other things to use.
Gummy Bear
Silicone rubber glue is apparently recommended by some. That or hot glue should do the job fine. Just nothing brittle like superglue or epoxy.
+CyranoJ
I'd guess napalm would also work.
Gummy Bear
I love the smell of glue in the morning.
+-^CrossBow^-
You know it isn't on topic but it is related...Flybacks in arcarde machines have the same issue. I've experienced it twice with replacement Flybacks I installed buzzing like mad. Problem there is that the spot where the buzzing occurs also happens to get pretty hot so you can't really put any glue in there as it would just melt it and run down. Instead we stick toothpicks and other small pieces of something that wouldn't be affected by the heat to dampen the noise. Fun times....fun times!!! Gummy Bear
I hear metal toothpicks work the best
RARusk
What does the coil in the Jag do anyway other than make noise that is?
+CyranoJ
What does the coil in the Jag do anyway other than make noise that is? Controls the rate the fumes are released.
roashru
both my jaguars make this noise what it sounds like to me is an overclocked chip. i used to overclock amd processors when turned up would make the same noise.
Zerosquare
It has absolutely nothing to do with overclocking.
+-^CrossBow^-
Meant to say that I replaced the reg1 chip in my jag saturday and took note that yes, it is in fact a Panasonic cap that was used that finally got rid of the hissing from the coil in my jag. I've been told that since I confirmed that, Console5 always uses a Panasonic brand low esr cap in their kits for the jag now.
