Phoenix Queries

I've been playing this a lot lately and have come up with some questions that perhaps you can answer:

 

1. Does the difficulty ramp? Other than the Spaceship I have not noticed any increase in the games difficulty. (and I've played at least 7 rounds)

 

2. Do you only get one extra life for the duration? I have only ever gotten 1 (at 20,000 I think). My high score is around 60,000.

 

3. Why do you only get rapid fire on the second wave of small birds? Glitch? Devious programmer?

 

4. Does the label art kick or what?

1. Yes. This is most notable on the 5th screen (you can't sit safely at the edge of the mothership and blast the moving band out).

 

2. Don't remember, but the manual is online here

 

3. That's how the arcade version is.

 

4. Absolutely MUCH better than that on the arcade cab.

The HTML manual here makes no mention of the extra lives. I checked first before I threw it out there.

Man when I first read the title of the thread I thought maybe Phoenix turned out to be gay....But now I get it. I seem to remember if you wanna spend all day playing Phoenix...If you fry the game till the screen starts rolling...Once it stops rolling you have 100's of lives at your disposal. Of course thats cheating!!!
