simonsunnyboy
Now that sounds interesting As I watched this floppy emulator in action at Outline (with Thorn's STE), I'd consideer to get one. It is a nice gadget for a games machine. I'd prefer a version with SDcard but let's see. @Mikro: If not for the UltraSatan but maybe for this one you will have me back as customer if you decide to sell them! Jeff_HxC2001
but where do we buy them?? That's the problem, you can't. Nobody is making them for sale. yet mhmm what do you mean ?

Hard to say, this depending where and how many parts can be buy for one batch: main parts are : a PIC18F uC, 3 button , a 3.3V regulator, an sdcard socket, some gate to make the floppy bus driver, and an alphanumerical LCD (will be probably optional, but recommended ) + some resistors/capacitors and a pcb. So i think that the price can vary from 40euros up to 100euros, depending of the parts suppliers and the batch size.

Jeff_HxC2001
Hi, A new and probably the last batch of USB HxC Floppy Emulator will be made by petersieg: http://torlus.com/floppy/forum/viewtopic.php?t=242 Hello. I have decided to build another final batch of app. 10 HxC USB floppy emulators.. They will be fully assembled and tested with Amiga 600. If you are still interested, I am trying to stay with the former price tag of 80€/Unit plus 10€ shipping insured inside EU or uninsured to other countries. However, I need to have at least 4 unit preorder and prepayment, to order pcb's, programmer and parts. Manufacturing time will take app. 4-5 weeks! (Sorry) So, if you still want want, let me know at: peter.sieg1<at>gmx.de Thanks, Peter The projet page: http://jeanfrancoisdelnero.free.fr/floppy_drive_emulator/index.html#USBFloppyemulator The pictures/videos page: http://jeanfrancoisdelnero.free.fr/floppy_drive_emulator/pictures/index.html#usb_hxc_floppy_emu_pictures

mimo
Hmmm, the USB version looks ok, but the SD version looks better. Will there be a run of the SD card ones? Think that I will hold out in the hope that there are

tjlazer
I think the reason why there is no development is because: Why bother? Just sneaker net a FAT 12 PC formatted floppy and move data back forth with that! Can't get any easier than this people...

Windows XP and Mac OS are finicky when it comes to floppy disks. Some like you have success while others do not. It would be better for everyone just to get rid of the floppy drive and replace it with a USB virtual one.

If you feel like writing disk images to floppies every time you want to run one then, uh... yeah the ST is 'convenient' that way... Yes, luckily you can easily exchange files via PC/FAT low density. But for the bazillion other games/images that doesn't do any good. Hence the need for a virtual disk server type of solution.

Mark Wolfe
I have seen at least two other floppy emulators out in the wild this year. both are made in China and one costs around $100US, the other was about double that. no links to online stores, they were both on ebay. but apparently they work with any classic device that takes a normal floppy drive including the old console backup units that use floppies, you can use an SD card instead and it DOES read/write to the SD like a floppy
Jeff_HxC2001
... it DOES read/write to the SD like a floppy ... The SDCard HxC Floppy Emulator too, and it is less expensive (something about 30-40euros without the lcd).
