New ET game review.

Sorry if this has been mentioned, but in issue #104 of GameInformer, there's a little review of the new ET game. Apparently, they feel this, just like the 2600 version, is pretty bad. They do credit the 2600 version as famous, but for the wrong reasons. One thing about that, I like the 2600 version. Not for the gameplay (the gameplay is terrible), but for its history. A game that pretty much caused the crash by itself, I don't think any other game can boast that.

I personally liked ET when I was a kid. I always made my little brother cry when ET died. Remember he just kind of went flat?

I wonder if ET is going to repeat itself and bring down the video game industry again. Given how badly it did on the 2600, I would have thought other companies would have stayed away from it.

Yeah, but wouldn't it be funny if it does cause a second crash, and everything suffers, giving Atari a chance to become leader again? Of course, there's no chance of that happening, but it would be funny how the thing that killed Atari brings it back to life. I doubt a new console is being planned, anyways.

Come on now guy's, E.T. did not kill Atari, and even though I did not like the way it played, it's still a piece of Atari history like Adventure, Warlords,Gremlins and other well known 2600 games.

I think ET was one of the reasons, the other being the flood of consoles and insane 3rd party creations that weren't being controlled. And Pac-Man for 2600 probably had a hand in it too.

i say let them do it crash the industry again ( damned if they learn a lesson from history ) all of us chip in a few $$ go to infogames and with help of some video gamers here (not nameing names to protect there smartness in atari) convince them into makeing systems again under atari and thus the born of atari in the 21st century

 

if i can i plan to buy infogames out someday and do that

I wouldn't mind seeing a new Atari console if another crash was to happen. I mean sure it wouldn't be the same, but hey, lets think about this for a moment, if a company lasts a REALLY long time, it never will be the same from when it started, i mean look at nintendo and sega, nintendo being a playing cards company and sega being a japanese importer to a game publisher, to a console manufacturer as well, and now back to game publisher. Atari wont ever be the same even if you hired all the people back from the old atari. But I would buy a new Atari console if it sucked or not, as long as it didn't cost too much, then I would wait till it got old. like i did with the SNES and n64 *shrug* at least I bought the n64 new. It was that donkey kong package. anyways, I really would buy a new Atari console if one ever came out.

 

Lets just hope ET causes another video game crash LOL
