Albert
One thing I neglected to mention is that pressing SELECT skips to the next tune in the demo. I'm waiting to see how long it takes people to figure out what games all the tunes came from (there are eight different ones). ..Al

NE146
EXCELLENT!!!!!! Oh man Starfire was one of the first videogames I loved as a kid.. I'd watch people play the cockpit version and pretend I was commanding them to shoot the Tie Fighters Now this was a GREAT idea for a 2600 port.. why didn't I think of it? MattyXB
The first tune is easy, but I will not tell now. And I think I know the second and fourth too, but I don't know from which games in the moment.
legeek
I knew the songs! But I'll let others guess; there is a common "theme" to the different songs BTW. heh -le geek P.S. Looking forward to the game, it should be sweet! Good luck fellas!
Albert
/development_page.html?InDevelopmentID=32Manuel Polik (Gunfight) and Thomas Jentzsch (Thrust) have teamed up to work on a 2600 port of the 1979 arcade game Star Fire. At present they have created a high-res (for the 2600), animated title screen and have included tunes from eight different 2600 games. Can you guess what they are? There's no game yet, but it will be a title to watch as development progresses. You can download the binary image here, and you will need to run this in z26, as it uses illegal opcodes not yet supported in other emulators. PeeknPoke
ooooh I loved Star-fire, as it was the only time (then in 1979) that you could play a decent version based on Star Wars in the arcades(in fact, as a kid I thought it was star-wars!) It should be a great version with those two guys behind it. Im hoping to do a feature on the development soon on my website and im going to email the guys (I loved Thrust and Gunfight too boys!) Cybergoth
Hi Jess! quoteTHEY ARE ALL PARKER BROTHERS GAMES!! Well, correct! And your list is correct, except that the Star Wars theme was in fact taken from Jedi Arena. I thought it sounded better than the versions from TESB and SW-Arcade. My intention was to gather the 8 best Parker tunes longer than 5 seconds into that demo. Now I wonder which of these tunes is generally considered being Parkers best music. I hope that maybe Alex or Albert could do a poll sorting that out... BTW: It's currently open how much influence Thomas will have on the future of the Star Fire project. We just teamed up for the demo as is, where he did all the main coding (and I had lots of fun ripping these tunes ) But I'll definitely continue the project and I'm sure Thomas will heavily influence it, as he did with Gunfight. I'm sure I'll need his help with 3D math anyways Greetings, Manuel

MattyXB
Well the first tune was the Star Wars, that I know too. Now I know, why I knows the second and fourth tune too. Frogger, long time that I not play it, so I forgot the theme.

I think, Manuel answered you question about tracing the Star Fire logo, but thanks for the Thrust compliment.
