King Atari
This is gonna sound stupid. REALLY stupid. But, I have to be sure, so here goes. I've got a few boxed/sealed games, I currently have them sitting on top of my loose games in regular brown boxes. Now, I've got a large collection of videos in a case that's attached to my TV entertainment center. Okay, here's the question: Would it be safe to for both the games and/or the videos if I cleared a shelf and put a few boxed games on it? Let me explain, I know magnets (shudder) can erase videos, would there be anything like that in the cart, or vice versa? Overall, would anything harm anything if I did this? PS-Sorry for such a dumb question, but nothing's going to harm my "Dark Chambers".
King Atari
Some speakers have shielding inside to protect from such incidents (or so I've heard). There's a big speaker next to the case and I've never had any problems as well.
King Atari
Anyways, I'm not worried about the speakers, just the tapes next to the boxed/sealed carts. Someone help! Please!
Lemmi
Oh you meen will the boxed games mess up the Video Tapes if you have them next to each other? Heh im a bit slow today [ 01-06-2002: Message edited by: Lemmi ]
King Atari
Or vice versa. Like, will anything in the videos mess with the carts, or will the carts goof up the videos?
Lemmi
Nope, they will be fine next to each other, before i put up a seperate shelve i had my videos and boxed atari games next to each other for about 4 months everything will be ok so shelve away
bcostin
Nope. There's nothing magnetically sensitive in a cartridge. Nor do they have anything magnetic inside them to endanger videos stored nearby. Be careful with any old SuperCharger audiotapes you may have around, though. Unlike ROMs audiotapes are a magnetic media. -Bryan
King Atari
Don't have to worry about that, I don't have any Supercharger tapes! I don't even have a Supercharger! YET! Anyways, thanks for all the help, I'll shelve them tomorrow. This is gonna be sweeeeet.
Lemmi
Humm i have a huge speaker (aka magnet) on top of my entertainment center and ive had Video's piled up 10 high along the side of it for along time now and the video's seem to be working fine to me, but when i had the other speaker 10 inches from the TV the Tv was distorted from the magnet so i moved it as for the game chips im not sure of but i would say that they would be fine
