legeek
I just played my best game to date. 139850 points, level four/round four (eight rounds per level). This is the first time I survived to see level four. How far have others gotten? -le geek
Scooterb23
On an official Megamania cart, I can't get past the the third screen, first time around. Now on the Snider-man's graphic hack MST2600, at Cinci-Classic, I made it all the way around to the second round-second screen before my firing thumb cramped on me. I had never been that far before, and I haven't found Megamania to try it at home yet.
Rhindle The Red
Once, long ago, in the days of my youth, I maxed out Megamania. Yep. 999,999. Took a picture too. Sent it to Activision. They said it was too dark and gave me a patch, but no recognition in Avtivisions... Not that it bothers me... much... *sigh*
+Cafeman
It has been a while, but I think my brain cells recall a number in the [editted out fake number -- why post it if you are not sure, eh? ] The great thing about Megamania is that you get that extra ship every 10,000 points, and you need it! Just like River Raid. So, eventually you end up trying to get to that 10,000 point threshold so that if you die, it won't be game over. I know I never maxed out the game though. Tell me, I don't recall -- does the game get any harder after level three or four? [ 01-09-2002: Message edited by: Cafeman ]

No. Basically you just get into a groove and keep going. It was more a test of my stamina (I get tired now) than skill. The key was that 10,000 extra ship. Once you have a full set of extra ships, you don't get another one when you cross the 10,000 threshold. So the key was to wait until you're near a 10,000 mark and you've almost completed a wave (only one enemy left) and (if you have the maximum extra ships) kill yourself intentionally. This gave you a new ship to kill the last enemy and a lot more points (for remaining energy) and the new ship to replace the one you intentionally destroyed. This allowed me to score a lot more a lot faster. Still want my recognition from Activision... It just what's right... Not that I'm bitter... Or carry a grudge... Or anything... Much... *double sigh*
