King Atari
I need some help here people. All of of my 4/6 switches and my 7800 work on my TV, but when I hook up my JR., the sound from the TV plays through, and the screen is somewhat fuzzy. Can anyone tell me what's wrong? +-^CrossBow^-
Well assuming your using the same switchbox for all...then I say you need to take an Allan wrench to your RF coil for some slight adjustment.
King Atari
You assume correct. But, please explain the RF coil (I've never heard that term before).
+-^CrossBow^-
I am referring to a little plasitc like post that is usually red in color. It will have wire wrapped around it several times...hence the "Coil" portion of the name. This is actually a potentiometer to adjust the signal of the RF to the TV. Basically when audio and picture become fuzzy...this is where the adjustments are made to resync them back up. I haven't had to mess with the ones on my Atari's yet..just the one on my Colecovision. But it worked. I had the opposite however in that I had great picture..but fuzzy audio. Slight turn and they were both good. I haven't seen the inside of a 2600 JR. so I am not exactly sure where the Adjustment is. But it should either be inside...or just to the outside of the RF box itself. If it is inside it, then look for an adjustment hole to access the Octagon shaped screw that has to be turned in the RF Coil potentiometer. Okay..I think I just repeated myself like 3 times there. I hope that more or less clears it up more. Perhaps if someone else on the board can provide a scan of the JR. board they can highlight or circle the potentiometer I am talking about. King Atari
I used another switch box with it, and the same effect happened. Is it possible that there's just something wrong with my JR.? I haven't messed with the RF coils yet, so is the problem more in the system or the switch box?
King Atari
Well, now when I hook up my VIC-20, it comes in really fuzzy (worse than my JR.), you can barely make out words. However, after I play it for awhile, it clears up. I haven't played more than about 3 min. the few times I have hooked my JR. up, so is it possible that if I played it for a little while longer, it would clear up? The Night Phantom
Recently, when I first hook up my VCS or 7800 to the TV, I sometimes get a lot of static, even though everything seems to be hooked up properly. I have found that changing the channel and then changing it back clears up the problem immediately. Maybe that would work for you?

Did you try the TV on both channel 3 and 4?

(I can't believe I didn't try the channel 3/4 thing).
